    Initial impression was positive with a reasonable car park, however signage was poor to non-existent. The paths, especially beside the river, became a muddy quagmire. Reeds have been allowed to grow unchecked so the hides were at least 25m from the water's edge, often more. The hides are 'wee ned proof' being brick and concrete so take a cushion. There's no facilities. Best avoided.

    Great place for a walk...lots of trails to follow..bridges..water...just lovely to hear the birds chirping away..

    Wonderful peaceful place to go for a walk and take in some nature. This area is my go to place locally for walking the dogs, pathways are extensive and mixed, in relatively good condition (although some eroded by River Clyde) and currently there is obviously some work going on to provide markers and new information boards. If visiting please take your litter with you, I often see volunteers cleaning it up which they shouldn’t have to.

    Nice walk through the woodland. Great place for watching wildlife. On our recent trip saw some deer and a bird of prey, not sure what type, perhaps a buzzard. Wear suitable shoes as it can get wet and muddy.

    Kinda reluctant to recommend as I love how quiet it is here, usually only come across one or two dog walkers. Great place to relax and lots to learn about history

    It is an absolutely beautiful place for a walk. As well as the lovely scenery there are plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. There is a lovely graveyard dating from the 17th century, a mausoleum, gardens, a walkway along the river Clyde and various bird hides. The castle itself is huge however it is private and you cannot go in. I would highly recommend Dalzell and Barons Haugh. If you head down early in the morning there are always plenty of deer wandering around.
