Hotel is operating under a C1 Licence (Public Hotel) so I entered to check if they had any rooms and what time they served dinner. Much to my disbelief it is now an asylum hotel. A man claiming to be a security guard asked me to leave but refused to produce his SIA licence. Some Lassie potwash then racially abused me, saying English were not welcome, only refugees. I couldn't believe the xenophobia.

I loved staying here. I'm sure if I was staying here free that would be better.

Attended a meeting and as leaving building was rudely advised by a female member of staff that we would have to leave as it was closed to public due to asylum seekers being accommodated there. The manner which this was done was not professional and I can't understand why they would book a meeting room out in this instance. Building is also very shabby and unkempt .

Room was shabby and poorly maintained qitht the toilet seat being wobbly with some urine stains on it. The room stunk of cigarette smoke which lingeree throughout my stay even though the very nice lady on reception gave me a bottle of sir freshener. Bed was comfy and I actually slept very well. Breakfast was simple but ok however the lady serving was rude, abrupt and could do with a few lessons in customer service and relations. My company will not be coming back unfortunately

Wish there was negative score option available. Shower was not working, complained, 3 days later room changed, was moved in to even a worse room, toilet wasn’t flushing & shower was worse than the first room. Complained again, reply was “oh we don’t check that, if it’s working or not”, we will change your room. Top it all up was the behaviour of the receptionist guy in the evening, in his opinion (in a supersonic tone) asking for viewing of the room they were going to put us in was “attitude problem”, so decided to check out there & then. Plz avoid at all cost, they don’t deserve your money.

This is a basic hotel and does need updating in parts; however, the staff were very friendly, the bed was spotless and the room was clean. It is in an ideal location and you cannot complain at the price - we will be back!

Stayed dinner, bed and breakfast on a great priced deal. The hotel is being refurbished so is tired and run down in places. Our room was OK. Breakfast the first morning was something to be desired.... But this was due to a different chef on, as the following morning it was lovely. We had dinner in the bar downstairs, the food was lovely and we were entitled to 2 courses from the menu in with our room deal, though no atmosphere to stick around. All in all it was a fab offer though. The quaint village is 10 mins walk away if you want pubs, cobbled streets, and a good atmosphere.

Prices and location are good, especially compared to other places. Hotel has parking and a lift. It also has a bar and other amenities are close by including a good shopping centre. The room wasn't great due to toilet flushing very weakly and stains on ceiling. Also, water pressure in shower isn't great. I've stayed here a few times and the main thing that kept me coming back was the breakfast - all you can eat buffet style with many options. Unfortunately, that has changed to having to order it and the options are severely reduced.
