I think it was a brilliant experience. While it is like a zoo, the aim of the centre is to give the owls a chance to recover their population and provide a safe haven. The enclosures are well looked after and the owls are so pretty. It's nothing like an owl cafe.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Visiting the Scottish Owl Centre was absolutely magical! From the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about these magnificent birds. The centre houses over 140 owls from around the world, and each one felt treated with care and respect. The flying displays were a breathtaking highlight — watching the owls soar gracefully, hearing their wings in motion, and learning about their habits in such an up-close setting was an experience I’ll never forget. The centre’s grounds are lovely, with picnic areas and an adventure playground for children, making it a full day out for families. And the gift shop offers unique items so you can take a little piece of the experience home. If you’re anywhere near West Lothian (or even further!), I highly recommend making the trip. It’s informative, inspiring, and utterly enchanting. Whether you’re an avid bird lover or just looking for a memorable day out, the Scottish Owl Centre is a must-visit.
AMAZING!!! Highly recommend this place. They know their owls and treat them well. Very well maintained and clearly well managed. We did the owl encounter and were able to hold an owl (with a leather glove of course) and it was amazing to experience. The whole time they are teaching and informing. Love the staff, love the owls.
Truly fantastic hidden gem of a place. Very informative and great opportunity to see these beautiful birds up close. The flying demonstration and keeper talk was great. Entry prices are £11.50 for an adult and you can go in and out as much as you want during the day.
Absolutely amazing little place. When you first get there you don't think it looks that big, but the amount of birds and owls they actually have is phenomenal. The enclosures are kind of on the small side but all of the birds seemed happy enough. They do daily indoor flying displays too which are 100% worth going to, they definitely made my day. All of the keepers are very friendly and happy to talk to you and tell you about the owls. Small play area, cafe, shop, and public toilets just outside. Definitely well worth a visit
We had a great time here. The flying display was informative and an opportunity to see the birds up close. The staff were very passionate about the owls and shared lots of facts and anecdotes about the birds, including conservation work.
Lovely outdoor venue. So informative and you get to see a new world of birds. Tickets are affordable. Can buy at the door or online. They do daily flight shows which lasts roughly 30min. Phenomenal to see the owls in their natural habitat and state. The entire venue plus reading the information can take a good 1 and 1/2 hours. The attention to detail at this place is so amazing. You can take a photo with an owl at an additional cost. Keepers are happy to speak and share about the owls. They do so much work in helping owls in the local space and around the world. Different sections to suit the different type of birds natural habitat. Hands on interactive learning for kids. Paved paths for wheelchairs or buggies. Venue is on the grounds of public parks so there is a playground, gold course, space for dogs and cafe. Truly impressed
Had a lovely time here! Loads of owls to see and the informative talk was also great, we learned loads! At first glance, looks like a small place and we thought we'd be done in half an hour but ended up spending 2 hours here. Really really enjoyed our day out, highly recommend
Great place to visit. The owls seem well looked after and everywhere was clean. The flying display was great and it was very informative. Kids loved it. All the staff were friendly. Definitely recommend visiting.
