“One of the greatest Hotels we've ever stayed. Fantastic beer packages (we enjoyed the beer school and our tap at the room), great food, friendly staff and overall a complete new and amazing experience. I wish an expansion of Doghouse Hotels all over the world!”
“Amazing location and massive apartment. Great facilities. Perfect for family of 4. Highly recommend this place. We would have stayed a second time when we came back from the highlands but they had a 2 night minimum stay.”
“Has an amazing time. Tracey was wonderful - she made the whole experience there. So friendly, patient and knowledgeable. Highly recommend the visit.”
“Went last year and loved it soo much had to make another trip to Edinburgh to see them (any excuse really!) . One of best light shows seen. Well done all, must take a lot of work!”
“Amazing day out for all the family. Best zoo we have been too. Loads to see, food vans located around the park which is great and it's actually decently priced too and great quality. There are loads of great animals to see and definitely could spend an entire day there. We all had the best day. Would definitely come back again.”
“If you have kids or tou are adults and wanted to explore a good amount of animals this is the ideal location. Good parking and it's better to prebook jist in case. You have animals from insects, snow leopards to farm animals. It's a good interaction time for your toddles as well.”
“Inspiring place to go to see the landscape and take photographs, including 'selfies'.. and get your bearings if you forget to take a map of the zoo.”
“Great little place. Kept us amused all day. Stopped and went across the road for the cavery then came back for the animal feeding and holding. Would go back in a flash. Staff are great. Kev is a character. Great you can come and go all day with your stamp. Highly recommend a visit here.”
“This is the second time I have stayed here. This visit however, was nicer. I was met with very friendly staff as always upon checking in. We were then told that we had been selected for a free upgrade to a suite and was given free parking as well as a welcome drink each and some lovely shortbread for our room. This was such a lovely surprise and made our trip even more special. The hotel is always lovely and clean, not to mention very handy for the tram. I will most definitely come back here. The staff are an asset to the place. You are made to feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble for them. Highly recommend this hotel.”
“Absolutely deserves 5 stars! I went with my 13 year old brother and it ended up being the most fun activity we did in Edinburgh. We didn’t know what to expect, but the actors were brilliant and really made the experience. Each room was superbly decorated, it felt like stepping onto a movie set. Plenty of laughs with a few great jump scares too. Highly recommend!”
“Great selection of decent beers and wines. Noticed some niche spirit options too. Friendly service, what's not to love here. Recommend!”
“Great family visit and really lucky with the weather. The Pandas were impressive and the highlight but overall the whole place was very clean and tidy. The enclosures were very well maintained and also very clean. The only slight dissapointment was one particular member of staff who must have been having a bad day and was not particularly pleasant when we dare ask about what food was gluten free in the Jungle Restaurant but we worked it out and didn't ruin the day.”
“We absolutely loved the zoo! As someone with a disability who struggles with hills, the team gave me a very special lift to the top of the hill! We heard lots of facts about the penguins and other amazing animals! I can’t remember the staff members name but he had ginger hair!!! Our favourite animal at the zoo was the hippos, they were really really cute as well as the penguins! The giraffe viewing inside areas were amazing I must add! Overall a fabulous time, definitely recommend ❤️”
“Beautiful stage and very kind staff. Enjoying very much the time spent there.”
“Very affordable and great location for a hotel! We were both pleasantly surprised with the room! Great service, would definitely recommend and come back here again!”
“Perfect room. Amazing bed. Bathroom spotless. Staff helpful, friendly, and efficient. Breakfast very, very good. Evening meal menu ok, if you lije American-style food, such as brioche buns, sickly bbq sauces, and frozen veg. Fish and chips very nice, pizza is the best value. Don't have any warmed-up desserts, they're blasted in the microwave and either rock hard or the chocolate is burnt. Definitely stay here again, though, the beds are fantastic.”
“Lovely location for a hotel, just a 10 minutes walk from the castle and the royal mile. Very scenic buildings in the vicinity. Staff very polite and helpful, looked after the bags on the day of checking out so we could make the most out of our last day. Modern, clean room with good temperature control. A very good stay and perfect hotel for a couple.”
“When i was coming out of the zoo yesterday afternoon and going to get my bus to take me home there was no bus shelter and nowhere to sit down on so i had to wait stand on my poor legs in pain so the next time i come back from Edinburgh zoo i will sit down on the path were people walk on”
“Amazing day, very steep but if disabled or struggle the staff do drive you to points around the zoo and collect you and bring you back down.”
“If you're looking for the Ritz, go stay at the Ritz and pay for the Ritz. I stay at hotels all the time for work and this Holiday Inn is one of the nicest Holiday Inns I have stayed at. Our room was comfortable and updated. The bathroom is small but expected for being in Europe. It was clean and completely acceptable. The lobby area is updated and welcoming. The fitness room is great with all the equipment needed for a decent workout. The breakfast is wonderful and worth the extra we paid for it. I read reviews that the restaurant food is great and that is accurate. Whoever is running that restaurant and making the food is doing a great job. The food is excellent! The pool and hot tub are ok but better than not having anything. The bus stop is right outside and takes you into town in about 20 minutes.....so convenient. A family day pass is 12£ (2 adults, 3 children). If you want a nice place to stay with good food but you don't want to pay the prices of being downtown, this is the place for you.”
“Dropped in for a visit for somewhere different to have a zoo visit with the kids. After reading reviews I knew it would be small and I do feel that the prices do reflect this. It's well kept and the lemur walk was definitely a favourite. They also have a large cafe, a small outdoor playpark, small gift shop and lovely clean toilet facilities. Lots of space for parking which is free. Overall we spent around an hour and half taking our time. For a zoo just finding its feet it is worth a little visit if in the area.”
“Highlight of our Edinburgh trip! Tour guide Coco was engaging and knowledgeable, sampled lots of different chocolates and learnt about the history and the making process. Was really fun and also got to make our own chocolate bars to take home! Would recommend for anyone visiting Edinburgh.”
“We had the most incredible experience with King Tours Scotland! Paul, the owner, toured me and 7 friends all over Scotland, and he truly made the trip unforgettable. He was always prompt, so much fun, and fit right in with our group as if he were one of us. Paul’s knowledge of Scotland’s history is amazing, and he brings every stop to life. Some of the highlights were a walking tour of St. Andrews, exploring Glamis Castle, and discovering hidden treasures along the coast. On top of that, he always seemed to know the best pubs for a quick snack or a perfect pint — such a bonus! If you’re considering a tour in Scotland, look no further. Paul combines professionalism with warmth and friendliness, and you’ll end up with memories to last a lifetime. Highly recommend!”
“Very emotional memorial for Polish people in Edinburgh , reminding them beautiful friendship between soldiers and wild bear during the II world war.”
“Rooms are nice, exquisite and very comfortable. I would say this is affordable luxury. All of the staff are very pleasant and polite. They always want to help, no matter what. Not forgetting that breakfast is free and really nice. You can move around the ship for some sight seeing and we also got two free tickets to see the Britannia Yatch (Tickets can be transferred or used at anytime). The location is quiet. It was indeed a floating experience”
“What an amazing museum this is. Firstly it's free to enter which is brilliant, of course you can leave a donation to support. There are lockers available to rent for a nominal sum, and great cafes to refuel. The museum has a terrific amount of interactive exhibits, lots of places to learn and play. You could really spend all day here.”
“I think it was a brilliant experience. While it is like a zoo, the aim of the centre is to give the owls a chance to recover their population and provide a safe haven. The enclosures are well looked after and the owls are so pretty. It's nothing like an owl cafe.”
