“We hired Tickhill Alpacas for our Wedding in August 2025 and they truly made it a special day. Alan and Lenny stole the show and all our guests loved them! If you are looking for something unique and special, I would highly recommend hiring them for your special day. Karen organised every detail we required and Dean was on hand on the day with any questions anyone had about the Alpacas. A great experience all round!”

“Such a great place even in the rain! There were a couple of animals like the armadillos that weren’t there which was a shame but overall it was a great place for all ages. We got soaking on the tractor ride which was a lot of fun but as it’s right next to the butterfly house we just went in there to dry off. I can’t fault the staff they were all lovely and because it had rained for most of the our visit you could go back into the office before you left and get vouchers to return for free.”

“Myself and my little boy (14months) came here for light illuminations and stayed over in hotel. What an amazing time! Hotel was immaculate, super clean, modern. A great nights sleep! Staff were super friendly and helpful especially accommodating as I was my own with little one. Only downside was the travel cot mattress was extremely hard but this is common across most hotels we visit. Zoo itself was great. Super clean, great to see all the animals, play areas were super for little ones too. Illuminations was spectacular and SO impressive! Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend :)”

    The Yorkshire Hive

    ★★★★☆ 4.6
    Closed

“A Buzzing Destination for All Ages, with Free Amphitheatre Shows! Nestled in the heart of Yorkshire, The Yorkshire Hive is truly a gem that offers an impressive array of attractions for visitors of all ages. From delightful shops and cosy cafes to a thrilling Ferris wheel, Amphitheatre and a play barn for the kids, there’s something for everyone to enjoy and the daily amphitheatre shows are free, which is a huge bonus, especially for families or those on a budget. The convenience of a large car park and public toilets makes for a stress-free visit, and the crowning jewel of this destination is undoubtedly the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, which provides a fantastic day out for families and animal lovers alike. One of the standout features, is its vibrant community of shop owners. Each shop is staffed by friendly owner operators, knowledgeable individuals who excel in customer conversation and communication, making shopping here an enjoyable experience. It's refreshing to see such dedication to customer service in today's retail environment. We thoroughly enjoyed browsing through the boutiques, and it was a delight to interact with the passionate owners who take pride in their offerings. As for the eateries, the cafes are charming and well worth a visit, but I have to give a particular shout-out to Cornerstone Gelato. Their ice cream is nothing short of dangerous—amazing flavours that will leave you two stone heavier! The staff are enthusiastic and persuasive, ensuring that you leave with a wider selection than you’d initially intended. It’s a testament to their excellent customer service; just be prepared to indulge a little too much! However, there's potential for even more growth and enrichment at The Yorkshire Hive. Adding a few more small shops could enhance its appeal as a shopping destination, allowing retailers to support one another and create an inviting marketplace atmosphere. Perhaps the Yorkshire Wildlife Park could play a role in this development by offering discount coupons for small businesses in The Hive. Such initiatives would not only bolster the local economy but would also create a community-centric vibe that would attract repeat visitors. After all, every little bit helps, especially for small retailers trying to make their mark. This is a must-visit destination that captivates with its diverse offerings and strong sense of community. We will certainly be returning, Thank you, Yorkshire Hive, for a delightful experience!”

“Great castle and stunning views. We went while the Halloween events were on and my 6 year old absolutely loved it. I think it would have been nice for more information to be around to read, for those of us that didn't pick up an audio guide (they are hard to listen to with a young child running around), some short descriptions of each of the rooms around the castle would have been really interesting. But overall really enjoyed our visit!”

Not much to see, small enclosure around the burial mound and a faded information board. But I love it here, standing looking around the landscape, reflecting on a time so long ago, it’s hard to imagine. I guess the location was chosen because it was meant to be seen from far away, the view is beautiful”

    Matlock Bath Aquarium and arcade

“We visited Matlock bath and were waiting for the gardens to open for the Illuminations event. I wasn't expecting the aquarium to be as packed as it was. It's a little 'tardis' and seems to keep going once inside. There are many tanks with different aquatic life, but the highlight for me was the old swimming baths which is filled up with the spring waters, and enjoyed by the giant koi carp. Of course you can buy a handful of food from a gumball machine and feed them too. Also inside were some holographic pictures and a hall of mirrors. Recommended, especially for the price.”

    Willow Tree Family Farm

    ★★★★☆ 4
    Closed

“I booked the alpaca trekking for my mums birthday. We had lots of fun. It was well organised and our guide knew everything there was to know about alpacas. We stayed to have a look around the rest of the farm after. I definitely recommend as a family day out - whether it's just for a look around, or if you're booking one of the experience packs. There's play areas for the kids, plus a really cool bouncy castle/trampoline kind of area (if only I was still a child!), and a cafe to grab a drink/bite to eat. As others have pointed out, the car park could be better signed. Just to make it more obvious that the car park is specifically for willow tree farm, and not the seemingly abandoned school. Once parked, we didn't have any issues finding where to go. I would definitely go again!”
