£6.50 entry fee (under 4’s free) which is reasonable for the amount of variety this small establishment has to offer. I particularly liked the thermal pool with the different coloured koi (50p gumball machines with fish food to buy). The aquarium inhabitants were fun; fish, axolotls, turtles, frogs, I especially loved the Giant Gourami, who was a sweetie of a fish. There’s local history information, a petrifying well that turns things to stone, hologram gallery and small hall of mirrors. I also enjoyed the illuminated walk of mirrored lights. And to top it off an arcade to spend a few coppers. I recommend a visit to pass away an hour or so.

Somewhat reasonably priced for what you get, we had a look at the aquariums and the koi swimming pool which were cool and you can pay 50p for some fish food for them. It was interesting to look at the different quartz, fossils and illusions that they had on display. It's not a massive place so £6.50 might feel expensive to some people but as a one off visit it was alright. We went to the arcade afterwards which makes you feel like you're at the seaside ✨️

We visited Matlock bath and were waiting for the gardens to open for the Illuminations event. I wasn't expecting the aquarium to be as packed as it was. It's a little 'tardis' and seems to keep going once inside. There are many tanks with different aquatic life, but the highlight for me was the old swimming baths which is filled up with the spring waters, and enjoyed by the giant koi carp. Of course you can buy a handful of food from a gumball machine and feed them too. Also inside were some holographic pictures and a hall of mirrors. Recommended, especially for the price.

Small but excellent space and learnt a lot about fishes. Not a bad prices to enter and you can feed koi fishes if you got 50p coin. Upstairs the is light luminous reflection weird pictures make my eyes funny and arcades ground floor.

This was a very interesting, informative though different experience than I expected, definitely worth a visit. After paying a very modest entrance fee the range of fish was surprisingly very good with detailed descriptions about each. The aquarium is not very big and upon exiting you enter the hologram exhibit.

"Matlock Aquarium is a fun place to visit Looking at the fish and you say " What is it?" On a wet day in Matlock Bath at half term we decided to visit the aquarium which can be found along the parade. On entering the building you take a walk upstairs through the 50 different species of fish which is accompanied with full descriptions of each and everyone of them!. Finishing up in the thermal pool which contains 8 different varieties of carp. On the second floor is a collection of holograms and also a Victorian museum. For a family of four it cost us around £15 which we felt it was not too badly priced and took us about an hour to see everything. It's not the biggest aquarium, but qwerky and well worth a visit.

Great displays and very nice affordable entrance fees, you are also able to feed the carp. Only a small venue but an interesting read into the history and well worth a visit :) I didn't get any photos of the holograms but they were also impressive!

BEST MONEY I’VE EVER SPENT! £3.80 (at the time) entry, there was so much to see and it was all amazing! They could do with a feather dusting, but you can’t complain when you pay £3.80. The value for money is great, you see the petrifying well, a wide range of fish, turtles and a large Koi pond, on top of that there’s the hologram gallery and a lil history on Matlock bath. MUST SEE in Matlock Bath.
