Honestly, this museum is soo much better than the British National Museum, it's not even close. The main reason for this is that the Royal Museum has a very good structure that tells the story of Scotland all the way from the early stages of earth until bkw chronically. And in that, it presents the history entertaining and charmingly, partly with hand drawn scetches and notes. Also the general collection of historic and geological objects and their explanation is really good and you can learn a lot while still being entertained. On top of that, the scope of the museum is HUGE, so you definitely need a whole day, maybe more if you leave yourself enough time to really read everything. Especially the modern part in the secondary wing is nice for families and there are lot of things to try and experiment with. But even if you are an adult, there is plenty of interesting exhibits of modern technologies, fashion and culture. And the nicest thing about all of this is that most of the exhibits, unlike the memes the British museum that are absolutely true, are not stolen culture. Such culture! Much Wow! All in all highly recommend, a very good museum that is up there in the best I have ever been, together with e.g. The Vasa Museum or the Copenhagen National Museum.

What an amazing museum this is. Firstly it's free to enter which is brilliant, of course you can leave a donation to support. There are lockers available to rent for a nominal sum, and great cafes to refuel. The museum has a terrific amount of interactive exhibits, lots of places to learn and play. You could really spend all day here.

AWESOME!!! Bring your kids, bring your neighbors, bring your grandkids, heck bring your friends. free museum. Free toilets. Delicious cafe. Very helpful staff. Days upon days can be spent here. 8 floors, with access to the roof which has an awesome view of the city. Elevators available for use to every floor you need. We spent an hour just on floor 1 of Scotland history. Seriously this place is huge and has so many different sections. A science-robotic section is really cool and interactive. Definitely coming back.

Stunning building which is nice and bright, not overcrowded. Nice to be able to enter for free and have donation points around the place. Some really nice points of interest and they look to have some regular short term exhibits. Only downside is we found there were lots of kids running wild from school trips. They seemed to be mainly around the nature areas so it did quiet down around other areas. The roof terrace has a great view.

What can I say... A truly wonderful experience. So much to see, we were there for nearly the whole day and still didn't manage to get round everything. The displays are beautiful and awe-inspiring, and rich with information. From animals, to technology, to the stars, and the deep past - there is absolutely something for everyone.
