Had a phone appointment and was told I needed bloods taken. As I am a nurse I said I could get a colleague to take my bloods instead of waiting two weeks for an appointment and also so I’m not taking up an appointment someone else could have. I went in to get the sample bottles and the receptionist gave me the bottles and a needle but no tourniquet. I asked for a tourniquet and the receptionist snapped at me and said I would need to get my own. I explained that I was unable to get one as I was currently off work and she argued saying she couldn’t give me one. I explained I had been given one before and she snapped well who is even taking your bloods and I explained I was a nurse and a colleague was taking them. She stormed off down the corridor and another patient turned to me and said stay calm and smile. I explained to him I was trying to save them an appointment to which the receptionist started shouting down the corridor β€œshe’s claiming to be a nurse and she’s standing down their complaining well I’m going to put a complaint in about her and a note on her file.” As an employee of the NHS I found this extremely unprofessional and this would not be tolerated in my work. This all happened in a waiting room full of patients. Where is the compassion and confidentiality? The receptionist then slammed the tourniquet on the desk and stormed off. This is not the first encounter I have had with rude receptionist. They are extremely rude over the phone when you try to book an appointment. I would also like to add that there are multiple signs in the waiting room asking patients to be respectful and that certain behaviours will not be tolerated, maybe staff in the surgery should be mindful of this when dealing with patients.

Is impossible to have appointments, they always say call tomorrow between 11 and 11:30 and during this time the phone is totally unavailable then they answer at 11:32/34 to say that is all booked, like that for months so with suspicion I be been there, at call time and I tried to call, for half hour no one phone has ring, not ivin once, this what I believe they do, I believe they disconnect at all the calls ... We argue because I can't talk to a doctor, my neurologist changed quantity of my therapy without saying nothing and went to holiday, is agoust 2025 now. The pharmacist didn't understood how shall I portion my therapy and told me to go at medical centre, at medical centre the reception don't know how to reed the prescription too and obviously for an appointment with doctor I must call between 11 and 11:30. We argue somehow and I received a letter that am not anymore with them, am going around and all the other medical centres are telling me no because I was with the glen and I have to call the practitioner which never answer. What shall I do ? I LL check over the reviews to see if someone can help me

Glen Medical Practice β€”While I was polite and respectful, Dr. Lauder was rude to me on the phone regardless. Dr Lauder tried accusing me of not answering the phone during a specific time slot when in reality I was waiting during that time-slot for the phone call appointment. I saw no evidence she tried to call me during that specific time slot. A week prior, I was given a false time-slot by a receptionist about my phone call appointment and Dr. Lauder left a voicemail asking me to callback on her number and I called back only to receive an automated message that calls are not accepted through that number. How is that my fault?

Phoned for an emergency appointment last week and didn't even get half way through my sentence before the receptionist said β€œemergencies only. Phone back at 8:30” and hung up. I then continued to phone consistently from 8:30-9:30 when i finally got through and was told β€œphone back on Friday after 9am”. This has now happened two weeks in a row and I’ve fainted at my work. The receptionist does not see β€œhaving a bad reaction to my medication” as an emergency and definitely needs to go on some training courses, starting with β€œtrauma informed practice” and maybe some general manners would help too.

Although my GP's Health Centre now advocates getting back to normal by not asking nor wearing face mask, this Health Centre displays notices saying face masks is a requirement. They also verbally say its a requirement, unless you are exempt and expect a reply to why you do not require to wear one. I do wonder if they even follow the rules about wearing disposable masks. mask

Since they closed the craigmarloch centre, it is an absolute nightmare to get to speak to anyone. When you eventually get through to speak to a receptionist, you are given a telephone appointment in some cases in 2 weeks time. Whilst not an emergency, it is very frustrating. This used to be a great practice, but not now.

Considering all that the NHS is up against, just cannot fault my treatment both by phone and in person. For sure we all wish things could get back to what we all used to expect to be normal, but that's not going to happen any time soon. Very very frustrating however eventually, I cannot knock the treatment I received.
