This place desperately needs some TLC. By far the worst part was the breakfast. Don't bother and just go out and find some food elsewhere. Rooms were very stuffy and the aircon hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Bathrooms and bedrooms need an update. The hotel has the bones of a great place to stay but is being neglected. Front desk staff were wonderful.

Fleeting Glimpse ★☆☆☆☆
Filthy, suffocating, and run by people who don’t care — worst hotel ever. This was, without question, the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The first room we were given was filthy beyond belief — thick dust on the radiators and bed covers, and speckles of dirt ground into the carpet. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. We were moved to a second room, which was at least clean, but it quickly became obvious we had swapped one nightmare for another: every window was locked shut, and the air conditioning was broken, blasting out constant hot air no matter how low we set the temperature. It was so suffocating we ended up leaving in the middle of the night just to escape the heat. We complained to the hotel and Hotels.com, asking for a refund or at least a partial refund. The hotel completely ignored us, and Hotels.com — who tried to follow up — received no reply either. The lack of basic cleanliness, the unlivable conditions, and the absolute zero in customer service make this place an embarrassment to the hospitality industry. If you value your comfort, your money, or even a basic night’s sleep — avoid this hotel at all costs.

We initially arrived at 12:30 and left our bags as we were told check in was at 15:00 which was fine. We returned to check into the room around 16:45, and the room we were sent to was really dirty - the bed was unmade with cushions all over the floor, leftover food and crumbs all over the floor. This was almost two hours after check in. We were then given a different room. We could not use the shower as the water was scalding hot, when we told reception they said they would try to sort it, but if not the hotel was fully booked so could not change room. Thankfully it was seen to and worked later that evening, otherwise we would have been happy to change to a different hotel. We were told the shower hadn’t worked because a button needed to be pressed which we are still yet to find. We arrived back to the room the next day at 17:40 and it had not been cleaned/towels had not been changed. We were told at reception that we were supposed to put the tag on the door so they would know to clean. We were not informed of this at check in, and there was no information/signs in the bathroom regarding towel change. We overheard three different groups of people check in, and none of them were informed of this policy either. We did not have a phone in the room to ring reception. TV did not work. Staff unpleasant and unfriendly, would not recommend.

We paid extra for a twin room which I've never had to do before but a nice big room although some of the bathroom fittings were worryingly loose. Quirky old lift . Breakfast was the worst we have ever had anywhere, undercooked and inedible really and so short staffed we had a long wait too so wouldn't recommend this Hotel. The few staff there were very friendly.

Unexpectedly the pictures definitely make the place look better than it is and I hastily booked without checking out the reviews. I guess it is a charming wee hotel and the lift an interesting feature however I probably wouldn't stay here again. The original room we were allocated wasn't the cleanest and having what appeared to be pubic hair in the bath was slightly off-putting. We were upgraded to a new room which appeared much cleaner but as others have said the bathrooms are dated. Location was perfect for us and the event we were attending, and luckily it was only an overnight. Personally, if you are considering this hotel you may want to just book a premier inn or travel lodge instead since you know what to expect for the cost. I'm also surprised no-one has mentioned the weird smell that seems to be around once you have used your card to get through the first doors to the corridor of rooms as well as the rooms themselves. This was prevalent in both floor 3, the room and floor 2 and the upgraded room. The windows in the room do not open and the air con is just a con as the room was warm and had no air all night, as well as the constant noise of the machine meant we were unable to sleep at all. We left at 8am, and the blast of fresh air when leaving the hotel is a feeling of relief we will never forget! Staff were nice and personable so no faults there.

Our stay at the ABode was pleasant for the most part. The room wasn’t bad, freshly cleaned and a moderate size. The bathroom is quite small with a pretty narrow tub. You’ll hear the fire doors slamming throughout your stay. The hotel has a cute old school lift in the middle of it which is really unique to see. The breakfast was quite delicious and reasonably priced. I had to make a noise complaint to the front desk about people in our hallway being really loud all night and they came up and somewhat handled it.

Lovely stay at ABode with my family for my graduation. Great location, excellent service and super comfy beds! The breakfast was absolutely delicious and better than any breakfast I have experienced at a hotel.

This hotel is shocking. The room was so small I struggled to put the iron board up, air con doesn’t work, open the window and you get all the road traffic noise. The bathroom is compact (Very compact). The bar has very little range, then we asked for a Gin and Tonic to be informed the ice machine is broken (no ice). At breakfast I asked for poached egg on toast to be informed it’s not on the menu, after a long wait. No staff on reception this morning… It’s so bad.

The hotel is a bit quirky, some parts of the architecture are stunning and some of the more recent additions are showing signs of wear They are clearly trying to do things the correct way. Parking garage across the road is very handy, it's payable but the hotel offer a discount at reception. Nice room (Superior) , huge high ceilings, the air con was best just turned off, but it was October. A slightly dated bathroom probably the only part that needs updating but everything functional and clean. Breakfast in the morning was superb and is what leaves the lasting impression that I'd recommend the Abode to anyone needing to stay in Central Glasgow.

Nice small hotel near the city center in Glasgow. Nice small restaurant that serves breakfast only. They have a lift so those with physical difficulties can maneuver. Rooms were small like most hotel rooms in Europe but clean and comfortable.
