“So much of our disappointment comes not from what we find, but from what we expected to find.” — a truth often echoed in literature, and one we felt keenly on our recent visit to Next. Having seen on the website that the item we longed for was available, we set out with hopeful hearts. Time, energy, and miles of road were invested in this small pilgrimage, only to discover that the promise dissolved upon arrival. What awaited us was not the joy of discovery but the quiet sting of absence. “We apologise, but we don’t have this item in the shop,” became the shop’s refrain. It was, as T.S. Eliot so finely put it, “Between the idea and the reality… falls the shadow.” Between the bright certainty online and the empty rails in-store, our time and trust were left in that shadow. Yet, even in frustration, we remind ourselves of Marcus Aurelius: “You have power over your mind—not outside events.” What cannot be reclaimed is the wasted journey; what can be preserved is the lesson—that trust must be guarded as carefully as time itself. Thus, our journey to Next became not a shopping trip, but a meditation: a reminder that in the world of promises, fulfillment must not be an afterthought.

"To the moon and back”—a phrase that promises wonder and fulfilment. With that same anticipation, we stepped into Next, certain that what the website promised would be waiting for us. But alas, as Shakespeare reminds us, “Expectation is the root of all heartache.” The item was not there, only apologies in its place. Between the digital assurance and the physical emptiness stood disappointment, echoing T.S. Eliot’s words: “Between the idea and the reality… falls the shadow.” What we hoped to obtain dissolved into absence. And yet, even in disillusionment, there is reflection. Marcus Aurelius once reminded us, “You have power over your mind—not outside events.” We could not claim the item, but we could claim perspective. In the end, the journey to Next became less about shopping and more about philosophy: how fragile is the thread between promise and delivery, and how essential it is for trust to bridge that gap.

Really beautifully laid out store, plenty of space for prams and/or wheelchairs. Lovely displays, furniture on offer in store was also nice. Staff asked if we were ok in store and we're friendly at the till.

We bought a sofa and armchairs there today at the Patchway Store. Aidan Z was very patient and helpful with me and my wife and helped us find what we were looking for and worked around our constraints for delivery times and other details. Thank you Aidan.

Lots of good bargains but also looked a bit like a second hand shop too any items stuffed onto rails.

Fabulous store and even better customer service from Josh and Rebecca! We have four matching lamps in our living room and dining room (one of which developed a fault) which are now discontinued, both Josh and Rebecca went the extra mile to source one for me so that we didn’t have to replace all four! Not usual for staff to go the extra mile these days, both Josh and Rebecca are great ambassadors for Next Home and deserve recognition for going the extra mile! People are quick to jump on these platforms and leave poor reviews when things go wrong which let’s face out they do (we are all human!) but this fantastic customer service definitely deserves a mention too! Look forward to seeing you onSaturday to collect!

Good location for parking and browsing. Great selection of light to select and order from but you have to order and collect as with other stores.

Very nice shop and the Costa inside makes it even better. You can get some pretty great product and enjoy a stunning coffee whilst you are there. The shop is nicely set out and extremely clean and tidy. The products are great and the prices are not too bad either. The Costa is a great addition and the coffee is good and the service excellent.
