“Sofa shopping, let’s be honest, is the single most exhausting pastime known to humankind. Forget marathons, childbirth, or Brexit negotiations, nothing will drain your soul quite like trudging around Cribbs Causeway with your wife, looking at a thousand slight variations of padded rectangles. The problem isn’t really the sofas themselves (although God knows some of them look like they’ve been upholstered in the skin of a startled badger). The problem is sofa shock. That moment when you realise you’re expected to lower yourself onto yet another beige monstrosity, nod appreciatively, and then get back up again, only to repeat the process across an entire retail park. It is, in fact, a tidy little paradox. The longer you sit on a sofa, the more comfortable it becomes, but in direct correlation, your will to live diminishes. Ten minutes in DFS and you’ll happily fork out for a beanbag. Twenty minutes in SCS and you’re thinking, “Do we even need furniture? Couldn’t we just squat, like medieval peasants?” Now, sofa shopping is not something you do regularly. Despite what the shops would like, it’s not a jaunty every-three-years affair. No. This is a once-in-a-decade blood pact, like renewing your passport. The evidence is right there, jammed down the side of our current sofa: a Radio Times from 2002. David Tennant wasn’t even Doctor Who yet. So, in a moment of male genius (read: cowardice), I sent out a search party in advance, namely, my wife. She produced a shortlist of sofas she liked. Which, as is the way of these things, meant a shortlist of sofas I liked. My role was not to choose but to greenlight. It’s marriage, not democracy. And then…miracle of miracles… we walked into SCS Sofas, Cribbs Causeway, and I saw one. A sofa I actually liked. “What about that one?” I ventured, expecting to be told it was the wrong size, wrong shape, wrong vibes. Instead, my wife said: “That’s the one I like.” Bull’s-eye. Done. Sofa harmony achieved. Except of course it wasn’t done. Oh no. You don’t just “buy” a sofa. You must choose colours, sizes, shapes, cushions, protection, and payment schemes that appear to have been devised by Goldman Sachs. But, and here’s the real kicker, we were rescued by Sophie. Brilliant Sophie. Patient, charming, efficient Sophie, who not only explained it all without the faintest trace of judgment, but even handwrote the dimensions for us. By this point I was so delirious that I nearly nodded off right there on the showroom floor. Which, in a way, is the highest compliment you can pay a sofa. So yes, thank you Sophie. Thank you SCS. Thank you, sofa gods, for ending the torment. We are now the proud owners of a new sofa, which will no doubt survive until the 2040 Olympics and still contain the fossilised remains of 2025’s iPhone cables.”

“What fantastic furniture and furnishings, great quality plus the ever so helpful and knowledgeable staff. Rikki helped us from start to finish with useful suggestions, explained all our options and gave us samples to take away. Follow up phone calls as well and everything went smoothly even the delivery which was by two lovely friendly and hugely helpful Welsh gentlemen who's names I didn't get unfortunately. Thank you Natuzzi and staff. Gavin”

“My little girl is old enough to help me now, but I’ll never fail to be impressed with how the JL cafe staff take care of new mums with babes who need assistance, the elderly etc. Watching the staff today reminded me of the same great service I received five years ago ❤️ Love the My JL rewards card for the occasional free hot drink and am rather fond of this blackberry and mascarpone cake. It’s an easy choice to visit when at Cribbs.”

“If there was a store of things you can absolutely live without, Homesense would be in. Not a diss by any means, I've cherished every animal lamp, autumn ornaments and golden pufferfish I've ever bought. It's a guilty pleasure and you'll always find something interesting”

“Pre-fitting appointments have been great! Comfortable, informative, thorough. We’ve had two different surveyors come by to ensure measurements are correct prior ordering. The kitchen designer Chelsea Saroe has been very helpful throughout the entire process. Now just waiting for delivery. Edited 28.02.2025: We first visited the Wren showroom in Cribbs Causeway on 14th of September 2024, where we met Chelsea Saroe, Design Consultant. She was very attentive to my wish list, very friendly and helpful. The whole process from purchase to completion went very smoothly, I was quite impressed at the level of attention you get from Wren, being contacted several times to allocate the different steps precisely along the way, great service! We chose to go with Wren’s “full package”, meaning we got kitchen furniture, appliances, quartz worktops, and full fitting service from Wren. Wren furniture (Infinity Plus) is of great quality, it was delivered fully assembled and wrapped up in a way to protect its exterior quite well. The delivery team was great, they organised all the bits according to my instructions so we could still walk around the space and make sure our Wren’s allocated fitter could easily start fitting. We got lucky with our fitter, Lewis Boyd, he knows well what he is doing, intelligent, open, very tidy and hard working, very attentive and respectful. Plus he also does tiles - which we paid for separately and directly to him. Worktops were surveyed promptly after 1st dry fit and delivered after 11 days. We added a bit to the kitchen that Wren doesn’t do, a roller shutter, so we purchased an extra Wren shelving larder unit, and the roller shutter mechanism from east coast kitchens dot co dot uk, Lewis reduced the size of the preassembled shelving larder unit in situ without any issues and assembled the roller shutter to perfection! So happy! Tiles were fitted exactly how I planned and they look great! White small tiles and black grout are not the easiest to work with but Lewis was fearless and tackled the job with excellence! Important to mention: Lewis went out of his way, as per my request, to add 2x half back panels to our bin and sink units as these Wren units come without a back panel - a little disappointed with Wren about that… Another thing that we changed from Wren’s original furniture is the plinth sealing strip (that transparent plastic between the plinth and the floor) - we purchased a black self adhesive soft rubber/silicone plinth protector from Amazon that suits the kitchen a lot better, and has a minimal look. We also asked Lewis to route a channel under our wall unit for a strip light (since we wanted to add smart lights and a slimmer light profile). All extra bits of fitting were paid to Lewis directly and he’s price was quite reasonable. Yes, I would definitely recommend Wren at Cribbs Causeway! And most certainly Lewis Boyd!”

“What a great experience with John! We came in today to buy our first sofa for our new home, completely overwhelmed with choices at other stores but fell in love with two at Oak furnitureland. John was super helpful by moving the sofa parts around so we could see what it would look like to fit our home, he also made me a coffee which made the experience feel very homely! We ended up coming back and purchasing the one we loved. John was absolutely fantastic, he went above and beyond for us and we are so grateful! He is an asset to your store! Thank you again John”

“I purchased a new dining table with chairs and a sideboard today, and I was lucky enough to be helped by James. From start to finish, he was incredibly patient, even though I was very indecisive and took up so much of his time. James went above and beyond, showing me accessories that would complement my furniture beautifully, and he made me feel completely comfortable asking what I thought were “silly” questions. His friendly approach, product knowledge, and genuine willingness to help made the whole experience enjoyable and stress-free. Thank you, James, for your outstanding service!”
