Went in for a coffee while having a watch battery fitted, well I say went in for coffee I didn’t get the coffee! I stood at the counter for 5 minutes waiting to be served whilst listening to staff in the kitchen laughing watching videos on their phones, they couldn’t hear anyone call out as they were making so much noise between themselves no wonder there were only 2 people sat having drinks and this was at 12.15pm when it should have been busy! When there are so many cafes to choose from why would anyone bother with this one if you can’t get served!

Today my sister and I decided to pop into Thornbury to look around the shops and grab a nice lunch. We saw this place and on first impressions we were impressed!! Greeted by a lovely lady in the shop, we carried on looking at the gifts. We got to the cafe and our opinion changed pretty quickly. It was dreary and dark with dirty dishes over the tables. We ordered our food and sat down. My sister didn't like the coffee....seems the milk was off. Which probably explains why the coffee machine sounded like a jet engine as the server was steaming the mankiness out. After a while the server came over to inform us there's going to be a delay as management had screwed up and they had no food or milk in !!!! Utterly ridiculous!!!! Our food eventually turned up. Mine was vaguely edible but presented like it had been dropped from a great height. My sisters panini looked as though a sweaty bloke had sat on it. We went to greggs in the end. At least they had food in and it was edible. 1 star is generous

Shambolic service and very disappointing poorly made food and coffee & management Never writen a review however this certainly deserves a review ! Myself and my sister was having a mooch around in Thornbury today and decided to pop in to the gift shop and try the cafe for some lunch. I wish we hadn’t of bothered what an utter shambles that was. We was firstly greeted by a young girl and ordered 1 hot chocolate, 1 latte , 1 Jacket potato with tuna and cheese and a cheese and ham panini young girl was polite and said she’d bring the drinks over. We noticed it was quite dark and there was no lights on or the fairy lights so did look a bit drab for first impressions. I then heard the young girl doing the most awful milk steaming in the jug to make our drinks completely burnt the milk and was way to hot ( you don’t leave the jug and walk of when the milk is being steamed) I work in a busy cafe working front of house making coffees and cooking so I know how to make a coffee properly and that is not how to do it ! Was definitely not a latte was more like a americano with very very hot milk on top …. Not nice however my sister said her hot chocolate was nice. We then waited 25 mins and still no food for something pretty quick and simple then the young server came over and said I’m sorry but management has messed up big time and we have no food !! She also notified other customers that they’d run out of milk !!?! But don’t worry they’ve gone to the shop to get supplies for your order and they wouldn’t be long. …. So we waited another 15 mins and finally food came out and what a disappointment. I was presented by a very pale , very flattened and cold untoasted panini , the cheese wasn’t even melted not much cheese or ham and the lettuce was brown and a few slices of tomato on a board . My sister said her jacket potato said hers were not hot , no butter and a very brown garnish of lettuce and tomato. We spotted the young man in the kitchen vaping !! I am baffled how you can run a cafe with no ingredients and no milk a very poorly made coffee and food with cheap ingredients. Very shameful service and if management do see this provide training to front of house and in the kitchen. A real shame as the gift shop and jewelers were lovely and had some lovely stock.

Really disappointed the little milk bottle with my coffee was dirty and full of chips. I ordered a bacon and brie pannini which I would expect to come toasted and hot but I think they forget to switch the sandwich maker on as it wasn't cooked just squashed into a mess and was accompanied by some brown lettuce and a chopped tomatoe and that was literally it. Wouldn't go back the garden was nice everything else average.

I love the environment - attractive decor and lovely garden. Child friendly with toys provided. But a cafe is for me chiefly about the food which unfortunately I find to be very poor. Limited menu. Seems as though menu designed for young staff to prepare cheaply and easily. Not exactly a foodie haven. we are quite spoiled in the corsham and Bradford on Avon areas with many fab eateries using high quality local produce. This cafe seems to be stuck in a time warp. Cannot think that those responsible have any real interest in food.

Their fruit scones are the best I've ever had, so we visit every time we go to Thornbury! Staff can be variable - the younger staff are friendly, happy, fast and know that they're doing. The older till staff are grumpier, easily confused and flustered, slower, need help to work out what to do and openly resent the excellent service the younger staff provide when they have to step in to help as the queue grows and grows, which (especially when considering the prices) certainly takes the shine off the experience.

£6.50 for a scone with literally the meanest toppings on and dirty great ball of inedible, undressed, unseasoned lettuce. Wrong cake delivered and my friends quiche was soggy and flavourless. The wasps here were unbearable, and we were told they couldn't do much a abut them ... yes you could, you could have closed the doors. My friend was so distressed she left and I was left alone to finish my lunch. Somewhat horrible experience.

This is a lovely place to chill out with a afternoon tea/coffee with a scone or cake, relaxing garden area to the rear, great for families and couples alike, competitively priced, staff were friendly. Myself and my husband had a tea, cappuccino with scones, all were really nice.
