The day after my wife and I ate here, my wife came down with an upset stomach and I'm feeling nauseous. Checking the Food Standards website, I have now discovered that the cafe has a one star food hygiene rating, last checked in November 2025 (last month at the time of writing). Other Google reviews suggest that it's had this rating for at least a year already, so they don't seem to be making any changes Of course, I can't prove that our illness was caused by Bakers and Barristas' poor hygiene, but I strongly advise you to pick a different cafe until they are able to display a satisfactory hygiene rating. A pity, because the actual cakes are very nice - when I lived in Bristol a few years ago I used to go here every time I went to Cribbs Causeway.

I went to Bakers and Baristas and grabbed the polka dot muffin with a chocolate milkshake which somehow came to a grand total of £8.45. Honestly I felt like I had been robbed by Keir Starmer personally. I half expected him to pop out from behind the counter with a little card reader just to finish the job. The muffin itself was alright. Warm which was a nice touch but for that price I expected the icing to actually cover the whole top of the muffin instead of that half hearted splodge they gave me. It tasted fine but it was giving me premium price for budget effort. The chocolate milkshake did not save the day either. It just tasted like a standard Nesquik milkshake you could make at home so nothing special going on there. To be fair the cafe is nicely laid out and looks the part. It is clean and comfortable and the atmosphere is decent. Just a shame the food and drink did not quite match the price tag.

Service was quick but it was very quiet, the muffins were delicious, very moist and fluffy with lots of flavour and the topping really made these muffins great. We had the sticky toffee and the raspberry and apple crumble and strongly recommend the former especially.

Coronation chicken was quite bland. Mango smoothie was very weak and watery. Had 2 oat lattes and could hardly taste the coffee beans. Weak again. Won't be returning. Total for panini, baguette, 2 coffees and a smoothie £25. Cost doesnt reflect quality.

The staff were extremely accommodating in helping me choose which muffin and drink I would like the most. It was really refreshing to enter a cafe and be greeted with a smile. I ordered a decaf cappuccino and the milk was steamed perfectly - not too frothy, but a nice and creamy foam. I was offered a loyalty card at the till, which I plan on filling up quickly - I will be back again next week!

Not a bad coffee shop, well located in cribs causeway. Needs a bit more attention to detail and some general and more regular table cleaning.

Muffins are lovely and food is spontaneously full of colour, the girl with the long brown hair and glasses has brilliant customer service and I've even seen her making the food products when she is on shift using all the correct PPE and colour chopping boards, clean uniform etc, well done to her the best person to be served by!

Nice spot but staff need way more training. I was in a queue of 3 people and it took 15 minutes to get a green tea and mocha as the staff didn't seem to know what they were doing.

The coffee, hot chocolate was good as expected, but what was above and beyond was the service by “Huw” who helped my wife when been busy tipped her hot chocolate and he made no fuss cleaned up and made my wife feel at ease, this young man is a credit to your store. Thank you

Really lovely little Cafe. New decor and new company overtaken the old premises, luckily still selling muffins and drinks. The staff were very friendly. The seating is a lot better now, with more seats available and a power outlet. Muffins were delicious and the drinks were top notch! Very clean and tidy. Food is well presented in the cabinet and is served with a smile.
