Our cocker spaniel Charlie had his trial visit when he was less than one year old. He was accepted and visited dozens of times for nearly three years. He enjoyed himself there and the feedback we got from the helpful staff was great. We enjoyed watching him play with the other dogs on their Instagram account feed. Then out of the blue, Megan, who happens to be the owner’s wife, texted me at work stating that Charlie was being dismissed and that day would be his last day. After nearly three years, she decided that he had too much energy! I was contacted whilst busy at work as if it was some kind of emergency when it clearly wasn’t. We found her more detailed explanations to be patronising and disingenuous. She also didn’t realise that he was booked in for the following day and that we had paid for the ‘season ticket’ ten-visit deal. We were kept hanging on for about three hours before Megan and her husband decided to honour the booking for the following day. It obviously would have been very difficult to get other cover at such short notice. I then had to chase up several times before the refund we were due was processed. Megan tried to make out that it was a team decision to dismiss Charlie but I simply don’t believe this. Another member of staff was clearly dismayed and mortified by what had happened and all other staff members we had spoken to previously only had positive things to say about our dog. It seems however that Megan took a dislike to him. The other doggy daycare places she recommended are miles away on the other side of town and are not practical for days when we are both working. Had it not been for this extremely disappointing way things have ended, I would have awarded 4 or 5 stars however because of Megan (and her husband backing her up), I can only award 2. The Right of Reply will no doubt state that it ‘was in Charlie’s best interests’ that she took this action however we do not accept this. The way things were handled was abysmal and very unprofessional.
We had our 6 month old puppy old English bulldog in for a trial this morning, from drop off to pick up the staff kept us updated through there social media, our puppy looked so comfortable and relaxed, the staff are extremely kind and professional, she is now fast asleep after a playful morning. She will be going back very soon, would highly recommend Winston’s☺️
After looking at the reviews for Winston's, I was really excited to sign my dog up. Looking at the website, it states that they accept small-medium breeds, my dog will fall within the medium category when fully grown. Unfortunately the afternoon before her trial, I got a message letting me know that my dog won't be accepted due to her size when fully grown. Such a shame and a little inconvenient. The information on the website needs to be changed so it is clear they only accept smaller breeds. The staff member that sent me the message was really lovely though!
One of the best doggy day cares that I have left my little cockapoo at. All the staff are amazing and he is always super excited to return and very tired at the end of the day after a fun filled day of play. Very happy dog, very happy owner! Would certainly highly recommend Winstons
Jordan was very welcoming and professional. He kept me up to date with regular photos throughout the day. Very good price for the service he provides. Would highly recommend this service to anybody.
Our dog loves it there! Every morning he's dropped off he cannot wait to go inside and see everyone and in the evening, he comes back absolutely exhausted. The staff are excellent, they give you an update on what's happened each day and you can see how well they treat all dogs. Would definitely recommend.
I have been sending my dog there for about six months, and he loves it! The place is well staffed for the amount of dogs that are there, and his every need is cared for while he's there - He's fed, walked and played with! Would recommend Winstons if your looking to get a break, or even socialise your dog.
