I don't usually write reviews as I would like to give people the benefit of the doubt, however I feel as though other new customers should be warned before believing the rating this place has. I phoned a week ago, only to be hung up 3 times throughout the day. I was then phoned back at the end of that day to book in my car as the engine light was on. They apologised over the phone for a "consistently busy line all day", which I took as a positive sign that they must be good if they're full of customers. I gave all of my details, but no booking confirmation was given - again didn't think too much of it. I took my car in at 9am this morning and handed over my keys. I took the day off work, as I work full time and don't have the facilities to get myself to work any other way. I waited all day for a phone call back, hoping that they were just busy getting on with it, until I was fed up of waiting and called them myself at 4.30. I was told over the phone that my car "hadn't been looked at today due to problems with other cars" - no apology or explanation, just told I could collect it before 6pm tonight. Frustrated, I went to collect my car, and asked why it hadn't been seen today, and was told "there were electrical problems which meant it wasn't able to be worked on today". And when I asked why I hadn't been phoned to be informed earlier, I was told that "the phones were also down today". The staff member apologised and asked if I wanted to book it in again, to which I said no thank you. I will also add that I had to walk over 5 minutes in the dark to go and collect my car, being told it was parked on a street two roads down. After all of this, I was still hesitant to write a review, as I thought maybe they had just had a bad day, giving them the benefit of the doubt, even though I will be going somewhere else. Until I asked my friend, who booked in a servicing before her MOT, and she said that surprisingly, the same thing happened to her!! "There were electrical issues" that day and her car wasn't even looked at. Not knowing that they were possibly lying, she let them keep the car overnight and it was looked at that next day, only to be quoted a ridiculous 3 times the recommended price. Hearing that 'electrical issues' were the reason her car wasn't looked at on the day of booking too, I am inclined to believe that this was not an unusual day for Ashley Down Garage, and that I had wasted my entire day off work and been lied to. All in all, a very unhappy, ignored and dismissed customer, thank you for absolutely nothing!!
Been coming here for years for both our cars as they are my local garage, very lucky to have such an accommodating and honest garage so close, excellent service always. Work is done to a high standard and both Kash and Kev couldn’t be more helpful, their knowledge is excellent too. They are always busy which is a good sign and will always try and fit you in if they can. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough!!

Would recommend! Left my broken car their at 10.30am. Was fixed and ready for pick up at 1.30pm. Changed all spark plugs, spark plug regulator and fixed a few other minor issues Reasonably priced too
Would fully recommend this garage to anyone. Really positive experience from start to finish. Having just recently moved to the city I had no clue what garage to go to, but im so glad I trusted the reviews to go to this garage. Such genuine and honest service from start to finish. Decent prices with no hidden costs. Kash was super friendly and took time to explain everything to me. A local independent garage that I can actually trust and bring my car to if I’ve any issues in the future. Honestly cannot recommend enough!
Really positive experience. I needed a repair done on my car. They were very polite, answered every call, I wasn't kept waiting, despite the fact that they seem very busy, and the job was done quickly. I will definitely return if I need anything else done on my car. Thank you!
