This review is for the whole of Dean Village. It's a beautiful and relaxing area where you should allow yourself to get lost meandering around the river and small streets. It's an easy 30 minutes walk from the main area in Edinburgh. Suggest you go through the castle park/garden on the way.

One of the many things we saw along our walk along the Water of Leith Walkway. This was the closest thing we found to a mini waterfall, although there were other such 'catchments' or dams along the walkway.

The Water of Leith is the main river flowing through Edinburgh and there are a lot of point where they built weirs to change the water flow but these weirs creating beautiful drama and making places around more attractive. Such like this weir or little waterfall making this place tourist attraction. Beautiful place in Dean village. There were a lot of tourists for taking photos. Its located on your river walk and very note able place.

One of the most picturesque location in Edinburgh... A beautiful and romantic walkway by the wier. Hard to believe this is so close to the city centre. Located near the infamous Dean Village. Spotted few wild berries along the walking path. One of the must visit attraction in Edinburgh!

Weir on The Water of Leith. Dean Village, Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. A weir is a barrier across a river designed to alter its flow characteristics. In most cases, weirs take the form of obstructions smaller than most conventional dams, pooling water behind them while also allowing it to flow steadily over their tops. Weirs are commonly used to alter the flow of rivers to prevent flooding, measure discharge, and help render rivers navigable. The Water of Leith is the main river flowing through Edinburgh, Scotland, to the port of Leith where it flows into the sea via the Firth of Forth. It is 35 km (22 mi) long and rises in the Colzium Springs at Millstone Rig of the Pentland Hills. It travels through Harperrig Reservoir, past the ruins of Cairns Castle, through Balerno, Currie, Juniper Green, Colinton, Slateford, Longstone, Saughton, Balgreen, Roseburn and on to the nearest it gets to the Edinburgh city centre at the Dean Village, on the site of old watermills in a deep gorge. This ravine is dramatically spanned by the Dean Bridge, designed by Thomas Telford, which was built in 1832 for the road to Queensferry, and lies next to the New Town.
