Close to Edinburgh, easy parking, stunning views and multiple route choices. A great day out in anyone's book.
This is my go-to place considering it's only a 15 min drive for me. Very quickly and easily immerse myself in nature and have some of the most amazing breathtaking views of the beautiful Glencorse reservoir. Great walking trails, smell of fresh sheep poo mixed with the mountains, there is something so magical and refreshing and healing. It's near the army reserves, so can see some young army folks running or huddled in a team meeting. There are also firing ranges that can be seen, but I have rarely heard shots being fired. Great place and highly recommend for folks not afraid of walking. Remember to use the toilets in the car park as one could get mesmerised and lost spending too much time in nature when the body clock is ticking away.
10,000 hectares of rolling hills, farmland, waterways and stunning landscape. Signposted walks of various lengths, toilets, food-stops and plenty of wildlife. Frequent buses to Balerno from centre of Edinburgh. The park extends approximately 20 miles (30 kilometers) in length and boasts over 100 km of paths. The highest point in the Pentland Hills is Scald Law, standing at 579 meters (1,900 ft).
Spent a lovely day hiking in the Pentland Hills — stunning views, peaceful trails, and plenty of fresh air. Great for both casual walkers and more adventurous hikers. A real gem just outside Edinburgh! Highly recommend for a relaxing escape into nature
Nice scenery, good for people who like climbing and walking. Not too stressful climb up, highly recommended for newer climbers. There is a firing range for soldiers to train which can be annoying. It is also an angler friendly place.
Now completed 9 walks in the Pentlands with some fabulous views, great exercise and met some cool ramblers (and mad fell runners in shorts in January!). Lots of well worn paths make for an easy introduction to hill walking, favourite hill so far is West Kip.
Beautiful scenic park to enjoy natural country side and hill side. Beautiful walk with family, picture perfect location.
Such a nice place for a walk. We used a disabled space to park, also a disabled toilet. It’s quite a push up the path with a wheelchair mind! Great views and a good tarmac track with the options of going off road and climb higher if you wanted to.
