A historic paved causeway leading to Cramond Island, exposed for several hours at low tide. The walk across the tidal sands follows a route used for centuries, passing WWII anti-ship defences. Careful attention to tide times is essential, as the path is completely submerged twice daily.

What a great way to spend the morning! An easy of slippy walk across and time exploring the island. Make sure you check crossing times - they are available at the start of the causeway and through Googling the RNLI and Cramond. We also went back to see what it was like when the tide was in!

A fantastic place to visit if you’re into photography. Make sure you know the tide times if you plan to walk all the way to the island, it’s a mile across the stone causeway. The river walk along the Almond is also worthy of a mention.

We loved our walk over to Cramond, the causeway was a bit slippy but and hard to step down to get onto the path (they council are constructing some steps down at the moment). The island is bigger than it appears and was teeming with birds, lovely walks and you can see a bit of the forth bridge in the dustance

1 mile walk to the island over a somewhat slippy path. Beautiful views of the ocean and beach. Beware of tide times they're faster than you think

A nice causeway that's reachable 4 hours twice a day. Good views over the forth and to surrounding hills. A popular destination for walking and doh walkers. I cafe and pub nearby as well as possible ice-cream van.

Walk one way average 30 minutes. Before a place, there is a cafe only take away. The view was so beautiful! Bring snacks and drinks.

Beautiful causeway that leads to a stunning island, it's really long and quite eroded but worth the walk along it! Has a great view and is surrounded by loads of rock pools and a beaches at low tides. The tide times for safe crossings is placed at the end of the causeway

Lovely afternoon walk out over the causeway This was our first visit here and right away there was a positive by having free parking available There is a nice walk along the prom or head out over the causeway There are tide times at the start of the crossing please ensure you have plenty of time to make the trip it is a 1 mile round trip and it is further than it looks so leave good time to walk out and back not suitable for wheelchair users but it may have been possibly to make it out on the sand in an adapted chair on the island there are a few view points Worth a visit I think next time we will take a picnic and spend some time enjoying the sounds of the birds and sea
