   Honestly, this is the most heartfelt review I've ever given for any shop, bar, restaurant or cafe I've ever been to. Ali has never not been smiling. Specifically, me and my partner lived just a minute away for over 2 years, and despite not knowing him personally (and I still don't), both of us would mention how every time either of us went in, no matter the drama going on inside or outside, this guy was always, and I means ALWAYS happy, engaging, and helpful. I stopped living around the harbourside almost 6 months ago, and despite this he still remembered the surgery I had the last time we spoke. If this man isn't recognised and rewarded then we don't live in a fair society, as no matter the company, I couldn't ask for a better member of staff. I know this may sound far-fetched or orchestrated but it's not, the unwavering positivity this man gives off is something short of a miracle. The CEO should give his bonus to this man. He has never asked or hinted at a review, but after the service he just gave me, it would be disgraceful to not formally recognise just what a force for good this guy is. "People believe great power is what holds evil in check, but that is not what I have found. I have found it is the small things, everyday deeds of ordinary folk is what keeps the darkness at bay. Simple acts of kindness and love."

   I purchased 2 egg custards today. Best before date was 24th August, the egg custard had separated from the pastry as if it was starting to go off. I asked if I could change it and the manager said there was nothing wrong with it. I am a chef so I know it wasn't fresh, and he refused and said there was nothing wrong with it. Obviously the manager did not understand the signs that this particular item of food was now longer at its best, or even fresh!

   Saj is the only thing keeping this Sainsburys going, the power he holds could move mountains, his finesse will amaze you and dont even get me started on his customer service… unmatched, i needed a coin for my scratch card and he gave me one from his own wallet. Love you Saj

   Good shop. The hours are alright and the prices are too. Some things are much more competitive than others. The tragic thing is that you can't buy some items in bulk, so you really lose out on buying smaller items. Their baked goods are alright, nothing to fight over though. The staff is a rudimentary level of helpful, which is sufficient enough I guess.

   Bristol's unique hip not rubbing off on this place. Urgently needing ice cream but could only find dingy unpriced ice cream section. 1/10 on Bristol hip scale.

   Brilliant local store , very handy as I live above the shop and you can always have a laugh with the staff the fruit is always lovely and fresh but I wish they would bring the fresh orange juicer back. Security guard can be a pain in the backside as he follows you round the shop even though am in there every day at least 2/3 times a day.

   I use this sainsburys multiple times a week, the selection is pretty basic, but not the worst for a Local. My biggest fault is with the security guard who insists on following me around every time I'm in there. Today he tried to insinuate that I had stolen my shopping as I was packing it into my bag, receipt in my hand. The rest of the staff are fab, friendly and work hard.

   Located in the centre of Bristol, close to the harbourside and opposite the Hippodrome, this small local Sainsbury's has most everyday essentials. They have plenty of good quality fruit and veg, and general groceries as well as sandwiches and drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. It can get busy but is usually quiet in the mornings.

3. Coeliac WellNES ★★★☆☆

   Despite being pretty small - Sainsbury’s Local Bristol Hippodrome had a pretty good selection of all the gluten free long lifes basics a coeliac might want as well as lots of naturally gluten free ingredients.  They didn’t have much in the way of sandwiches or ready to eat food; but good for a few cupboard essentials. Full 3* lowdown at coeliacwellnes.com.
