Beautiful location, plenty to do and visit in the local area. We stayed in a 3 bed lodge, it was very spacious, clean and had all the amenities we needed, just needs modernisation in terms of redecorating. The boiler was temperamental so limited hot water supply but we had showers just no baths! Restaurant and facilities onsite were great. Friendly staff and grounds well maintained. 5 mins drive to local town which is very picturesque and Balmoral castle only 10 mins drive down the road with lovely onsite restaurants and gift shop. Worth the 9hr drive will definitely be visiting again.

While out in woods you are close to several small towns and 1 hour from Aberdeen. We put over 800 miles on rental car. Nice place to really get away from it all. Pool and hot tub as well as Sauna were perfect.

We absolutely loved our vacation in Ballater and staying at the Grand Hilton Craigendarroch! The hotel was so beautiful. The setting was perfect, the grounds were pristine. The restaurant was good. There are lots of recreation activities on site and the 2 pools were wonderful! Our room was spacious and clean. Lots of closet space to tuck away our luggage and loved that there laundry pods ad machines provided on site. Ballater is a quick 15 min walk. The town is so quaint with lots of little shops and pubs. We spent several days driving around the area, discovering new places every day. We loved the food at the Alexadra Hotel and the owners Allan and Fiona are fantastic! Would HIGHLY recommend anyone staying here visit Knock Castle. It's about a 10 minute drive and is 100% worth it Other honourable mentions would be the town of Stonehaven, Loch Muick, and Braemar. There are so many places to see and visit in this area. We cannot wait to return! 10/10 would highly recommend!

We absolutely loved our stay here. Out of all the Hilton Grand Vacation resorts we’ve stayed at this one is by far our favorite. We loved the location and scenery around it. During our 5 days here, we took a day drive to Inverness, a day drive to Aberdeen, and then of course explored all the castles and towns around Ballater. There’s no shortage of breakfast spots and places to eat in Ballater, however we ate 80% of our meals at the resort. The food, service, and staff were beyond PHENOMENAL! Our favorite waiter was Martin, he was absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend having a rental car if you’re not from here. There’s so much to see around here, and while there’s public transportation, it’s extremely limited. You can also pack somewhat light. There’s washing machines and dryers on site. They also provide pods in the room. If you want a day to relax at the hotel, there’s a great health spa with a pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam room. Best part, if you’re a scotch and whiskey drinker, their whiskey selection at the bar is great. They have selections and descriptions from every area in Scotland and the prices are so reasonable!

As HGV owners, this location was a great find. We were right in the middle of nature, parking spot right out front. 2 bedroom with 3 baths, 1 with a sauna which we didn't have time to use. Our lodge 23 was quick and short walking-distance from the main lodge with the pool and restaurants. Bring a swim suit and a little bottle of dish liquid. The kitchen was very easy to navigate but the dish soap provided was terrible. The closest grocer was the CO-OP in Ballater which has a decent selection but I'm glad we stopped at a Tesco on the drive in. We were able to get some breads and milk from the lodge, which were alright. You do have to pay for electricity usage. It was about $50 for 6 days. Check your weather from the local FB page.

Very good stay here. No complaints. Handy for the town (about a 25 minute walk in) as well as for good walks in the area: Loch Muick is good. We were 4 in a suite which was very comfortable.

We know this place well, and love the area and surroundings This time we were allocated one of their suites. As there was 4 adults a one bedroom place can be tight. The main bedroom was very comfortable but it is a pain to fold up the sofa bed in the day time and awkward with adults even if they are family members. The best area is the 2 sink bathroom. I love that luxury. As it is a half kitchen cooking was limited to bowls of porridge and microwave foods. And then it was a late afternoon that took at least 20 min walk into town to sample the local cuisines. The walk keeps one fit that we did not avail of other amenities offered by the hotel.

So sorry that I am providing this review so late. We stayed here when we got married 27 years ago and returned on our anniversary. The stay was fantastic, the staff even arranged for champagne in our room! The location is wonderful, and though times have changed with no longer a proper breakfast on premise, we took the time to go to the quaint village of Ballater for breakfast. Between all the wonderful hiking, visiting Balmoral castle, having a pint at the pub with locals and exploring the town, this was the perfect location. We hope to come back a little earlier than 27 years!

Had a great experience that exceeded expectations. A little pricey, but it lives up to it through quality. The location is great for a break from the city, and yet does have basic conveniences like grocery and restaurants nearby. The quality of the interiors were outstanding and so was the general ambience. We went in winter and was lucky to enjoy it in picturesque snow. During our stay, breakfast was limited to packs that they arranged to drop off in the room, but that may change in future.

Overall it was excellent! The location is superb, the food scrumptious, the service amazing. Front Desk staff were very professional, kind and efficient. Kudos to Lexi for taking the extra time to assist us with our lost luggage (airline fault). And especially for sharing with us her extensive knowledge of Scotland. These extras made this stay even more memorable and enjoyable. She is an amazing ambassador for Craigendarrock Suites HGVC Ballater.
