Call this an additional review, from almost exactly 1 month as seen below, to again point out that the MyZone bands you have charged your members £70 for STILL do not work in your gym. I've now asked over 10 times at the desk, several phone calls, I've had a reply from the manager to my original review - all saying that they will fix this issue and still nothing. I'm standing in your gym this very moment - one TV says the correct time of 8.14pm, the other says 06.14am. So absolutely everybody in the Stepps Bannatynes using MyZone will collect double MEP points for their workout as they log twice, which completely negates the purpose of being involved in seeing how you fare against other folk using the system. That's now myself, MyZone customer care, other gym users I've spoken too, staff, including the manager, all been made aware of this and the simple fix has been acknowledged as putting a TV to the correct time to sync with MyZone and still Bannatynes Stepps can't do the simple thing of setting a TV to the correct time to allow us to use the system that they sell for £70. You've had over a month now for a simple fix - it's about time you refund people for the MyZone straps as you're selling a product that isn't compatible in your gym.

Trying to get anything fixed is beyond a nightmare. Bannatynes Stepps sell you a MyZone band for £70, and it is barely compatible in their gym - for it to work as it should, the TV's in the gym need to be set to the same time. In Stepps there is 2 TV's on the gym floor set at different times, which causes MyZone to log 2 separate workouts, giving MEP's that weren't earned. All this I had to find out via MyZone customer service as nobody in Bannatynes had any idea why people in their club were being logged as 2 workouts every time they use the gym. I've now asked 6 times over the last month via phone calls and at reception if someone could simply set the TV with the wrong time correctly. I've just left the gym this minute and now have 2 workouts logged for this visit, once for the correct time of 9.30pm and one for 2.30pm. The whole idea of MyZone is to allow people to work out honestly and see how they fare amongst others across other gyms. Working out at Stepps doesn't allow that. I don't think setting a TV to the correct time is a big ask, especially when you charge £70 for the MyZone set up in the first place.

The gym is great. I've had to use a few other bannatyne gyms before and the gym was smaller, but the stepps one is great

Amazing staff amazing venue. Gyms always clean. Good set up excellent equipment. Even when it is busy you can still get on equipment. Classes I have not ventured into them, so I can not comment on how they go.

Decent gym, decent size and friendly staff. The gym is usually never too busy so there is always enough equipment to use in the Cardio section without having to wait around etc although wish they would get another stepping machine legit have one and always hate to use it incase someone is waiting to get on it. The sauna is decent although I wish they had a quiet area dark area like bigger sauna, and no not like that! 1) I’m there struggling to stay in the room struggling to catch a breathe and you have these older 60+ guys trying to talk to you and 2) when your body is currently pretty out of shape you don’t want to be seen. Overall though would recommend this gym and the PT’s look decent dunno too much about them but look approachable and from seeing them PT they seem pretty good. Maybe more classes, especially Kettlebell classes and more HIT classes

Two issues that have me really unhappy with this gym. First is the quality of the equipment, one particular bench which I reckon most gym members have encountered at some point has an issue where it is difficult if not impossible for it to go into the flat position. Anyway I got stuck with this bench got it to stay flat then while doing 20kg chest press with dumbbells the bench gave out under me and went negative. Everyone heard the huge bang the bench made and I injured my shoulder. I told one of the physio staff and to their credit they offered to have a look at my shoulder and remove the bench. Funny thing was, I went to the gym and the bench had been removed and placed between the two doors in between the hall and gym. So I assumed they were going to get rid of the bench until next week where I used the same bench again which had been placed back out. Absolutely no regard for members safety even although people are paying £50 a month for this facility. The second issue is that they have just casually decided since the pandemic to cut opening hours at the weekend from 10pm to 8pm with no adjustment to the fees and without telling anyone besides on Google. I really enjoyed decompressing at the weekends around that time which is a thing of the past now. Andy really doesn’t run this place right and you can see a mile off that everyone he’s is doing to save and scrimp on a luxury gym is benefitting him somehow. You’d have to imagine his bonus is tied to it which is why he acts with such disregard to members. Never heard anyone have something good to say about him.
