Did the Blackrock start point for the circular walk, great walk but can be muddy and slippery in places. Views amazing from the top. Would say better in summer as the going was quite hard when we visited November 8th.
Ridden through these by bike, undulating and fun. Feels quite flat on top, but around the edges the drops are steeper and give way to panoramic views. Can see all the way to Glastonbury Tor and beyond.
A pleasant place to visit and stretch your legs. Pay parking is at hand near the attractions and free parking is avalable a little bit up the vally/gorge. One price covers admission to the sights. On a hot day, the caves are pleasantly cool. If you take a close look at the formations in the cave, you may enjoy some unique formations in the stones. The trail up Jacob's ladder does require the will and ability to climb "a lot" of steps. But the steps are well made with handrails, and after a few more steps, you find yourself at the top of a small lookout tower. After the tower vew, if you are motivated and have the time, the trail circles the gorge for a county walk with views to enjoy.

Parking can be found either in the village or around the winding main road, payment necessary, toilets can also be found in the main village free of charge. I would recommend taking a good pair of boots and plenty of water- theres lots of uneven ground with plenty of opportunities for slips, trips and falls. Well worth the danger though. You do not need to purchase tickets to explore the hills as they can be accessed at many different points, but would recommend planning a route or having some familiarity with the area and different possible routes. I would also recommend buying tickets to the cave etc to enter through Jacobs ladder and do the 3 mile circular hike, but as stated, this isn’t necessary if you dont want to. I was lucky enough to be Engaged on the top of one of those beautiful mountain cliff tops, and would suggest anyone in love with someone who also enjoys spending some precious 1-1 time together in nature do the same. Proud to say ‘YES!’ with the goats and falcons watching.
Great place for walk or biking. Huge area with beautiful views good for any time of the year.
Second time we've visited, love it at Cheddar. Cheese, cider, good views, what else do you need? Has an alpine feel.
My partner and I regularly hike around the Mendips, in various locations. It's pretty much beautiful throughout and it's hard to go wrong. Grab an OS map, or an app such as All Trails, and get out there!
Stunning area for cycling, some brutal climbs & hair raising decent. Cycling up Cheddar Gorge is a must for any keen cyclist. Was there on August Bank Holiday weekend but apart from the foot of the Gorge the roads were lovely & quiet compared to my local New Forest Roads at this time of year.
