We had a lvly overnight stay at Queen Matilda country homes. The accomodation is situated in the village of Avening a short drive from Tetbury and Stroud. There are three rooms available at the Matilda all exceptionally well looked after and we'll equipped and very clean and tidy. There was a nice area to sit outside in the summer with sun umbrella and table and chairs when the sun is kind enough to shine. Tho the restaurant and bar has had to close at the property there is a pub nearby that serves food in the evening or a short drive to Stroud to find a few restaurants there. We were served a very nice breakfast the following morning with continental and plenty of choice. The host was very pleasant and very helpful. Would recommend the Queen Matilda to anyone, and will hopefully sray there again in the future. We then went on to a pleasant day at the Cheltenham cricket festival.

I stayed with my friend at the Queen Matilda and in was fantastic ! The bedroom was beautiful and modern, the service and breakfast was great. The lady / the owner, is just so adorable. I will definatly recommand to stay there if you are looking for a night in Tetbury.

A perfect overnight stay. From the start there was great communication with Jo when making arrangements for a dog friendly room. On arrival Jo was very welcoming and showed us to a lovely room on the ground floor that was spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything that we needed for a short stay. It’s a shame that the Inn is now closed, sadly due to soaring energy bills that are claiming many pubs across the country. Overall great value for money with breakfast included. Would definitely return again if travelling to the area. Thanks Jo

Nice hosts but the food is really lacking, especially at those prices. Wouldn’t risk going back but wish them the best.

Service very slow in the restaurant but friendly. Food was nice but not quite the standard you would expect for some of the prices compared to other eateries. All in all a nice experience but won't blow you away

One of the nicest Sunday Lunches I've had in a long time, with some great items on the menu created by their talented chef, and a very friendly selection of staff who neither overdo or underdo their attentiveness. This sort of place deserves the local communities support; Thursday's beer or wine tasting club sounds fun too.

Such a friendly place to stay, with a warm welcome. They were so accommodating to our dietary requirements (vegan and gluten-free.) The breakfast which was cooked for us was out of this world! They went to such a lot of trouble to accommodate us. The room was comfy, modern and clean. The restaurant was also really cosy and welcoming.

Really lovely to have the queen Matilda back, the new owners have done a great job to pull together a fantastic team of staff and refresh the decor. Family friendly and for those having a romantic meal lots of cosy private tables away from the bar area. We have done both. Everything we have tried on the new menu so far has been delicious and pretty good value. Vegetarian options are highly recommended as are the steak, burgers and pizza’s. We will return soon.

We popped in here for dinner during a long weekend in the Cotswolds, and are very glad that we did. I believe the pub has recently been renovated and the restaurant is beautifully presented. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The menu has a good range of options, and the desserts were fantastic. I'd recommend booking if you can as it is rightly very popular, but we were fortunately able to get a table without a reservation.
