We chose somewhere different from the usual hotel. The buildings are old and full of character. The mattress was like sleeping on a bean bag really soft. This is a guest house, but it had lots of lights, large TV and new shower room. The position was perfect for walking out for dinner and into Bristol.own carport at the rear, we didn't use the car the whole of our stay. Excellent Christmas market.

Decent prices and great location. Nothing special, not luxury but you get a good deal for the price. We had a family room and it was a bit cramped. Can't complain because it was only £200 for 3 people for two days. The staff were nice and friendly and the amenities were pretty good. I thought the bathroom was very small but again you get what you pay for. It was clean and the whole place had a very old school feel to it. You are so close to everything it makes a trip to Bristol very easy. I would consider going back again. The breakfast was included and it pretty good, again nothing outstanding but I was happy with what we got. A perfect budget option for the location.

Really good service from some members of staff, especially breakfast staff, but I think cleanliness really brings the rating down for me. The room wasn't tidied at all while we were there, dirty cups weren't taken out, the beds were never made, the bin bag was only taken out when we specifically asked for it, and a bag of nuts had been dropped on the floor while we were away. We're talking about the most basic stuff that every hotel should get right. Bed and pillows were comfy. Were offered free breakfast which was very nice, can't really complain about it.

Stayed at the Washington for 2 nights in late October. Very good location in a pleasant area of Bristol and near many shops and restaurants/bars. The city centre is on a frequent bus route but also only about a 15 minute walk away. Great value for money: a full cooked breakfast was included, plus complimentary fruit, tea, and coffee in the room. Room was warm and cosy and beds were comfortable; it was mostly very clean but carpet slightly grubby. Large bathroom with full bath as well as a shower. The hotel staff were great, especially those on Reception: I was checked in by Katya who was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Breakfast room staff also pleasant and friendly but there's maybe a need for another staff member at busy times. Overall, I'd definitely return here and thoroughly recommend it.

I stayed at the hotel for work and likely got a good rate as I booked the night before my visit. I only stayed for one night. The room is spacious, well stocked and has fresh fruit, biscuits and mountains of coffee/tea making facilities. Bed was very comfortable, slept like the dead and was only awakened by my alarm clock. Full English breakfast was brilliant. No complaints whatsoever. The property is a bit dated but it’s an independent hotel and cost far less than what it would have cost to stay in a major chain with the same facilities offered. Decent pub about 30 seconds walk from the Washington that does food. Would stay again in a heartbeat the next time I’m working in Bristol

Good, friendly service and and warm welcoming. Prices are very competitive and the guesthouse provides good value for money as whole, however, there some issues that must be mentioned because these may affect or disappoint some travellers: 1. Cleanliness - generally speaking the building is clean, and my room was not bad. The carpet, the bedsheets and the bathroom were in good, acceptable clean condition, but the windows, some of the furniture, the mirror in the bathroom and the walls at some places really dirty (especially the window... I'm sorry, but it's close do disgusting). 2. Temperature - the water in the bathroom nice, the pressure on ground floor was good/high, and it was perfectly suitable for showering and washing. The temperature of radiators though and the overall insulation of the rooms is quite poor. At some point I even felt a bit cold (after shower, when I was going to bed). 3. Noise - since there's no 24 hour reception or some sort of control, even during the week I often got woken up at different times by noisy people going out and coming back to their rooms, talking loud, watching TV loud, laughing, etc. If try to weigh everything, the result would be close to a strong 4 * rating, in my opinion. Something for something, however, a few bits could be improved at no/or minimal cost. Regardless of the few downsides and negative point, I can recommend this place for a short stay (especially that even a pretty good and nutritious breakfast is included in the price.)

Great budget guesthouse/hotel. Very friendly and attentive staff. Rooms could do with a spring clean, and are a little dated. Very comfortable and clean; excellent buffet breakfast. Good walking distance location for city centre. I would stay again.

I spent 6 nights at The Washington Guesthouse this September. Lovely hotel with a great location and hospitality. Kind and caring staff, no matter what the situation was. I could always ask for their assistance and the issue was solved within moments. Wonderful experience. Comfortable and clean rooms, tasty full English breakfast with many buffet options. Also suitable for vegans and guests with allergies. Family and pet-friendly accommodation. I'd stay there again.

I had read the reviews so had low expectations. Pros: Excellent value. Breakfast included. Parking available at good rate. Room was warm, clean and very comfy bed. Lovely staff. Cons: It is undoubtedly tired looking (but that is reflected in the price) A great value stay - well located for the attractions of Bristol.

I was welcomed by a warm smile on a rainy day. The service was great and the check-in was a smooth one. The room was very clean and neat. Bed was just right for a 6-2 guy. Comfortable bed and pillow which were crucial for some quality sleeps. The shower place might be a little bit small but I thought it was acceptable. Breakfast was good, and again the service was top notch. This is value for money and I will choose to stay here when I travel to Bristol next time.
