Really look forward to going to Kung Fu training, always leave wanting more. Really nice people to train with throughout the grades, especially Sifu, who makes everyone feel comfortable and welcome.

I've been training with Sifu Jerry and the Bath Kung Fu Academy since October 2023. I initially joined as i was looking for a community to integrate with for fitness and flexibility, I soon completely fell in love with the Art and the Academy. The classes are content rich, diverse, and an opportunity to train with so many great people. The classes are welcoming and from the moment you arrive you can feel the positive atmosphere. If you're considering it - come join the Academy!

I’ve been training with Sifu Jerry for a little over a year now and feel compelled to add an up to date review as most reviews are nearly a decade old, which is not representative of the thriving Kung Fu community Jerry has built over many years. Firstly, Jerry is a very affable, yet disciplined teacher. Always energised & excited to share his vast Kung Fu knowledge, along with the occasional story or two, with his students. He sets the classes at a decent pace so thankfully there isn’t any time to consider any of life’s stresses during the class. Kung Fu itself is a great martial art. It has everything; it can be brilliantly functional when needed but during training all students are exceptionally gentle and considerate to each other. It has a number of different elements inc kicks, sweeps, throws, locks, traps, punches, blocks, weapons as well as many “forms”, which are used to teach the techniques in a structured, memorable way. I’ve only scratched the surface of what there is to learn. The existing students in the adult classes range from 12 to 50+ year olds who might be “back in the classroom”, as it were, for the first time since school. It is probably about 30% female at a guess. Regardless of your age, fitness or abilities you will be welcomed into the group. A lot of knowledge is passed down from higher grade students, so everyone gets to train with many different people and this system ensures that, as you progress, you are constantly refreshing your skills while helping others learn and keeping the team spirit alive and kicking. Fitness wise, you get out what you put in so there is no pressure to perform above your abilities. However, if you want to push yourself there’s nothing stopping you. I find Kung Fu twice a week helps me stick to my other fitness & diet regimes as there is a clear benefit and use for them. If you are half way considering taking up a martial art, I can wholeheartedly recommend you do a taster session or two at the Bath Kung Fu academy, whether that’s in Batheaston, Weston or Corsham….or sign up to all 3 if you are allowed out to play 3 nights a week. My son also does the kids class and he loves it too. It’s amazing how functional it is for the little ones too, whilst also instilling in them a little discipline along the way. Not to mention some time away from the dreaded screens.

I can no longer train here because I relocated. However, trust me this is the best academy you will find and you need to trust the sifu and stick with it. Kung Fu is....
