I visited the Skechers store in Newport recently and unfortunately had a very negative experience with a member of staff named Rob. He was incredibly difficult, very pushy, and extremely in-your-face from the moment I entered the store. Another member of staff was absolutely delightful and kindly informed us about the current promotions, as well as the small and very poor sale section. Shortly after this, Rob approached me and began repeating the same information. I explained that I had already been told, but he continued anyway and then proceeded to belittle other members of staff by saying, “Well, my staff don’t always do their jobs.” I found this comment very disrespectful, especially as every time I visit this store I am always treated very well. This was my first encounter with Rob. I was simply browsing for shoes for my sister, yet Rob would not leave me alone. He constantly talked at me about all the different technologies in the shoes, even after I clearly stated multiple times that I was just browsing. Despite this, he continued talking without giving me any space. Once I finally decided on a pair of shoes, Rob attempted to aggressively push a pair of socks on me, repeatedly telling me how “amazing” they were and how much they would help my sister’s feet. My sister is 14 years old and has no issues with her feet, so I declined. I find it unreasonable to expect someone to pay £18 for a pair of socks. After I said no, he then mentioned a “special manager’s 20% discount” if socks were purchased with shoes. However, the customer served before me was not offered this promotion, which left me feeling confused and uncomfortable. I have never felt so pressured in a shop in my entire life. Due to this experience, I will not be returning to the Newport store again.

I went into the Newport store last week and was greeted by a lovely young man Jay he told me he was new and this was his first job after speaking for a while, what an incredible young man with brilliant customer service skills. Absolutely outstanding customer service from Callum! I phoned the store to ask if they had a pair of trainers in my size. The call was answered quickly and professionally, and Callum confirmed the shoes were in stock. A few hours later, I visited the store and was greeted by Callum again. He kindly fetched the trainers I’d asked about, but also listened when I mentioned I had wide feet. He suggested trying a wide-fit version, bringing both the size 12 I requested and a 10.5 wide fit. The wide fit turned out to be perfect and much more comfortable. I was extremely pleased with the service I received and will definitely return for more trainers. Well done, Skechers!

recently visited Skechers with my grandmother and was very disappointed with the level of customer service we received. From the start, a staff member named Ffion was extremely pushy, repeatedly trying to sell us socks and shoe sprays that we clearly said we didn’t want. When I declined, her whole attitude shifted – she became curt, hostile, and made us feel uncomfortable for simply saying no. On top of that, every time we asked to try a different size, she acted as though we were inconveniencing her, sighing and showing visible frustration. My grandmother was made to feel like a burden when all we wanted was to find her the right fit. Shopping for shoes, especially for an elderly relative, should be a supportive and patient experience – but instead it felt rushed, pressured, and unpleasant. I left the store disappointed and frustrated, and sadly without making a purchase. I would have expected much better service from a well-known brand like Skechers.

With very fussy and fat feet, I have to say I found the staff here to be great. They were helpful and patient and sold me some shoes!! But the biggest thing is that there was a real fun vibe in the shop. I find this to be unusual based on my very limited experience of shopping in Newport. I shall return.

Love their footwear ... so comfortable but they almost didn't get my custom because the staff were more interested in nattering to each other by the storeroom door. I was obviously interested in buying because of the time i spent looking, but was totally ignored. I had to go and stand within inches of the girl and even then I had to ask for assistance. Yes I did get shoes and a water proof spray.
