Came in here many times over the years. Great beer garden, great atmosphere inside. Sadly, last time I walked past the door a couple of weeks ago, the pub looks to have been closed. Sad loss to Bradford but I hope Humphrey Smith is working on re-opening it.
Just arrived in Bradford for the night and wanted to have a decent pint. Had read recommendations for the Shoulder of Mutton and it did not disappoint. Gorgeous pub, full of charm and clearly a place with the community at its heart and soul. Full of history (former butchers, hence the name), with a no phone policy - YES, have a conversation!! - and a love for all things Bradford. Thank you for having us xx
A hidden gem of a bear garden in central Bradford. Clean and well decorated inside. Traditional old pub friendly service.
Sam Smith's quality pub. Real ale in excellent condition. Enjoyed bottle friut beers. Highly Recommended
Real pub ( not a bar ) very friendly people great atmosphere and a fantastic landlord and landlady. Open fire . Would highly recommend a visit. A must try for anybody in the area.
The owner or manager of this pub is living in some bizarre false reality where the modern world doesn’t exist, obviously except when it suits. Mediocre beer, but I only had one because they don’t allow digital devices, so you have to listen to the staff joking with the ‘real’ customers. Don’t take card payment, cash only, good luck with that in 2022! Then again the place was pretty empty for 5pm, now I know why. If you’re under 75 give this place a body swerve. I’ll never go back.
This was a fantastic pub to drink in at, having the main options presented clearly at the till! The staff were friendly and fast, serving me a quality pint of lager. It is comfortable in outside seating and the setting indoors is lovely, especially with cleanliness being maintained!
Lovely pub! Nice cold beers and the taste of the beer shows that the pipes are cleaned regularly.
