“Loved it here & we'll definitely be going back. Lovely pint of stout, fair prices, really friendly & comfortable with a welcoming atmosphere. They've got an interesting selection of drinks which a lot of thought has obviously gone into. The downstairs reminds me of an old tap room & the upstairs, a snug. Really good micropubs like this one are putting 'shall we pop out for a couple?' back on my list of midweek after-work activities. Doesn't take as many people to make it feel like a social gathering, and that's the thing that makes a couple of hours out, a really enjoyable break from the grind. Try it, I guarantee you'll enjoy it & it'll do your mental health the world of good to get away from work & the house & be amongst people.”

“We found this pub by chance when staying in the area during the August bank holiday weekend, they managed to squeeze us in last minute and so glad they did, we all ate something different and each meal was delicious Not only was the food lush the service was great too, all the staff were super friendly and helpful, quite clearly genuinely enjoy working there, we enjoyed it so much we went again the following evening, again all had something different and again the food was great . Really tastes great and home cooked and cooked well. I believe my dad will be talking about the steak and ale pie for EVER and my mum the chips Unfortunately I only took one photo, this is the beef lasagne, my meal from our first visit 100% recommended, my only regret is we didn’t go back for the Sunday roast, we went somewhere else in the area that had been recommended ! That’s a separate and less complimentary review”

“Not had food so can't comment. Staff are friendly and approachable. There is a group we go to on a Friday morning 10-1 that is aimed at getting the community together and helping the vulnerable to socialise rather than be alone at home.”

“This stay was part of a road trip staying in similar ancient coaching inns. This one definitely had a more modern feel to it. The room was to a high standard and the bed was the comfiest on the trip. Breakfast was excellent. The bar is cosy and a nice place to pass a few hours. Car park was fun! But if you can get parked it is free. Great location. Staff were all great.”

“Super clean and vibrant place. Lanes play well but there is what I found shortage of enough medium size balls (affected other friends) Staff very helpful and no shoes required but important to be wearing sturdy footwear. Toilets and parking available and there’s even a quiet space for prayer. Prices are fair in today’s climate but do book in advance and you can make use of the free drink (regular soft drink)”

“Lynsey and her staff are absolutely lovely. They were very accommodating and helpful. We literally had 3 weeks to plan the event a bridal shower and they managed to pull off a spectacular evening in short notice. The food was an Indian 3 course meal and the drinks we added, but overall a very good package and the event was such fun! We had a blast.”

“I used to work in this pub many years ago as a karaoke/dj presenter,I went in earlier,and it looked exactly the same to me,authenticity and real people,the pub doesn't make the pub,the people make the pub,very nice to go back in time a while,down to earth people,I will be going back”

“Me and some friends when in on a night out a while back when one of the lads had come back home for a stag night at 11pm and he went out at 9pm so we decide to go out and make are own fun. 5er in each which wasent that bad I though doorman collects it off you and tells you the rules when you come in the girls were friendly , and we felt not pressure to buy drinks or get a dance.”

Having worked in kitchens all over the world, Sonny brings a depth of experience that turns dinner into theatre. He personally guided us through the hot rock cooking method, with the kind of enthusiasm that makes you think, “Why haven’t I been cooking my steak on a lava slab all my life?” As someone who’s worked in the meat trade, I can say without hesitation — this man knows his stuff, and then some. We both went for the sirloin (by recommendation) — a bold choice, but one that paid off in juicy, buttery dividends. Sonny’s homemade infused butters (think garlic, herb, and something unidentifiably magical) gave us the tools to elevate the experience from “bit of fun” to “culinary revelation.” The novelty of cooking your own steak at the table was quickly eclipsed by the incredible flavours — tender, perfectly seasoned, and sizzling with satisfaction.
