Poor!!!! 2:30 ordered food and was told it would be 40 mins. Not an issue happy to wait. 3:30 we asked the waitress if it was on route as it was 20 mins over expectation. Waitress said it’s due next and would be 10/15 mins. We politely declined and asked for a refund as we had to go due to failing light and walking home, any 10/15 mins plus eating time was going to be too late. Upon heading to the bar to receive the refund, I over heard the chap behind the bar saying there was nothing put through for table 10 (our table). At the same point over I heard another lady asking how long there food was going to be as she had being waiting 1h10m. Disappointed won’t be returning…

Beautiful cozy pub serving tasty classics and a nice selection of drinks. We were accommodated late on a quiet Monday and still felt looked after and welcomed!

A beautiful pub with delicious food, friendly staff and gorgeous decor. I'd highly recommend the steak and ale pie. Extra bonus that they are dog friendly. Perfect place to go after a long rainy walk & sit by the open fire to warm up.

We live in Spain. Must be 30 years since I visited the Malt. A cheery greeting from the blond server, quickly served and seated. It was busy and our server warned us food might be a while. We were comfortable and warm and this was not a problem. The four of us had beef sandwiches which were excellent. A cheery checkback to see all was well, and it was. I was a Licensee for many years and staff like this are rare. Polite, professional, knowledgeable with a customer service that came from the heart. Thanks for a very enjoyable experience at a reasonable cost. We'll be back

We came here today to try the place out. Immediately we were met with an incredibly warm welcome and sat by one of the two cosy log fires. We ordered two types of sandwich and they were exceptional, bread crunchy and soft, with great flavours and came with chips and salad. Great value for money. The place overall has a really nice atmosphere and the service was second to none. Especially by one staff member. Overall it's a great place and I would highly recommend this historic pub. We will certainly be back. Thank you.

Food was nice enough but the ‘deep filled’ pie was far from deep filled and the room we were seated in was very cold. The log burner was not in use and the electric blow heater was far from adequate to heat the room.

Visited The Malt 3 times during a weeks holiday nearby. First class food and drink, staff are really helpful and friendly, welcomed us and our dog, even gave him treats !.The steak pie is fab, a proper hearty meal, but sandwiches are also great, if you just fancy a quick bite.
