Unfortunately my chicken strips were cold.. when they were sent back they were re-cooked in the fryer which made them hard. A fresh meal should have been cooked. Another chicken meal was also cold and chewy They staff were amazing and did their job with apologies and free drinks Everyone else's meals were OK.
We popped in for a bit of lunch and were immediately struck by the professional pride in good service and the friendliness of the staff. The food was generously portioned ,prompt and tasty. My husband loved the slab of ‘crunchie’ cheesecake and my coffee was hot and not stewed which is so often the case. An unexpectedly lovely lunch- thank you !
It was extraordinary good! The staff were pleasant, and the waitress was lovely! Only thing it can have a lack of variety for individuell with picky eater and acid reflex problems! However, be not fooled, as they are very accommodating and are willing to customise your order if needed -like having an adult size of macaroni and cheese if desired- overall a reallt good place to go, with amazing staff!
Service was amazing we was a party of 14 and our waitress kept on top of everything making sure we had drinks, making sure food was ok. I would definitely recommend the dovecote. I couldn’t fault the service or food in anyway. Our Nan fully enjoyed her birthday meal out.
Love this pub. I have been twice in the last 2 weeks and have had the same meal both times.... Cauliflower pie. The 1st time it was excellent and the 2nd it wasn't so good purely because they had a new chef. He did correct some of the meal but the roast potatoes seemed rubbery and the vegetables were not as described on the menu. I do hope the standard remains good as i have always enjoyed the meals here. Staff are very efficient and friendly.
Really nice place. Staff were excellent. Steaks were lovely. My only criticism was the starters. The Chicken wings had been frozen along with the garlic bread, which unfortunately you could instantly taste, which is not always the case but it did spoil it for me.
Visited The Dovecote for the first time today with a friend, I have driven past many times on my commute, and wanted to give it a go. Booking is advised (as is anywhere on a Sunday). We booked for 12pm & were taken to our table promptly, and waiting staff were very attentive. The selection of lagers and wines were good, and arrived ice cold (which was great in the current weather). These guys know how to pull a decent pint! It was nice to see that the full menu was on offer on a Sunday, as many pubs do not do this in the area and stick to serving carvery alone. I opted for the 'Black and Blue Burger' and my friend for the Chicken in Stilton Sauce. Both dishes were well presented and extremely tasty, and arrived very quickly! If I was being nit picky, I would say that my burger was slightly overdone for my taste; however, the overall dish was lovely. I will definitely be returning here for food. The interior is classy and cosy, and there is a large beer garden (which is always a bonus). Thanks for a great visit!
I’ve visited this pub twice recently. The menu takes this pub to another level! Everything I’ve seen served looks like the chef has really made an effort, everything I’ve eaten or tried from another plate is mouth-wateringly good! The variety of drinks they serve is excellent and the whole experience including the staff make it a great experience. I will definitely go back as there are other meals I’m looking forward to trying.
We ordered food for a takeaway collection. They have children's menu, and I was impressed with the choices available for vegetarians, food was packaged appropriately and still warm when we brought it home. They forget to give us sauces that were stated on the menu, but other than that we were happy with our food and service.
