Quite a nice old pub, popular during the day and a good local feel to it.

After ordering drinks we have moved to the beer garden where we have been told children are not allowed at the premises... very disappointing and well overpriced too!

Came into the pub on a bank holiday weekend looking for a few drinks with family and friends. One of the members of the group became visibly unwell during the visit (they were not being loud, silly or disruptive - just sat at the table clearly not feeling well. She had only had a couple of drinks at this point) and needed to use the toilet as she felt like she needed to be sick. We went into the male toilets (I checked and no one else was in the toilet at the time) as she did not want to go on her own. As soon as we entered the toilet - a member of staff came storming into the toilet asking us to leave the pub immediately. After explaining to the member of staff that she wasn’t feeling well at all, he told us she needed to leave the the toilet and go in the female toilets and after needed to leave the pub. After she came out the toilet, she sat at the table to have a glass of water to try and settle herself down before leaving. The same member of staff immediately came back over to the table and told us to leave. I again explained that she was just taking a few moments to settle down before we left and he would not leave the table until he saw that we had booked an uber. The member of the group was visibly in distress and was upset about the situation but the member of staff showed no compassion whatsoever. Didn’t come over and ask if she was okay or offer a glass of water. Just immediately asked us to leave the pub and not return. I’d add that this was at 17:00 and we had only had a couple of drinks before we entered the pub (if this was at peak time and full of people being loud and drunk, I’d understand the need to to get us out, but it wasn’t) she was clearly unwell from something other than alcohol. Other customers at the pub asked us if we were okay and if there was anything we needed as she was clearly distressed and upset. But nothing from the member of staff who was more focussed on getting us out than helping. Extremely disappointed with how it was handled by the member of staff and felt pressured to leave before making sure our member of the group was okay. Clear lack of empathy and compassion towards paying customers and felt extremely unwelcome and unhelpful. Will not be returning to this establishment in future and will be avoiding people away from it due to the attitude towards customers from certain members of staff.

Just had my 60th bash in the Oak’s function room. Excellent service all round, big shout out to Grace who helped host the event and was so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. And James for sorting the logistics beforehand , including the photo slide show. Pulled pork batches and mushroom alternative also went down a treat. It was a squash and a squeeze for the 60 guests but didn’t detract from a fabulous evening.

Loved the pub for many years. Have moved away from the area,, but always good to go back when visiting for a familiar crowd and to talk with friends without shouting over music.... cos thankfully, they still don't play any. Just the natural atmosphere of what a pub should be.

A bit pricey, but nice place where I usually would visit for a glass of whiskey or gin. It feels like friendly welcoming place inside

Very nice ambiance. Friendly staff. BUT drink prices...burnt. One to avoid if you want more than 1 London priced drink.

Good pub with outside seating area out back, though because much of it is glass covered can be too hot in sunny weather...good for rain though!! Ok selection of gins rums and spirits. Table service by glass collectors is a helpful touch.

Nice pub, live sport and a nice choice of beers. Friendly staff.
