Update: I thought I'd been here before. Original review was from 15 years ago! Review 10/5/2025 Beautiful food, excellent service, great value. Spacious, bright, plenty of seating inside and outside. Clean inside and out. A couple of steps to some tables but mainly accessible. Previous review 2010: We found this place by accident and I am really glad we did. We found it really easy to find again so that was good! It's really quiet during the day time. They do lovely food at really good prices including a children's menu at £3.25 with more items than you would find in a lot of places. All the meals (including kid's meals) come with a choice of potato (so you don't have to have chips with everything like in some places!) plus salad, beans or peas. My other half said that the beer is nice (I can't comment as I was driving!). The staff are lovely. The only thing I can comment negatively is that they seem to be understaffed although they cope really well with that, it's just that meals take a little longer sometimes.

Visited the Bulls Head at Wolvey this evening (Friday 11/08/23), as a “date” night with my wife, to enjoy a nice evening pub meal. So wish we had gone to the Blue Pig instead! There was only a family of six or so in front of ourselves for serving, the pub was not really busy at all in the restaurant area, however one chap ( who he tells myself lives in Benidorm) was trying to serve customers in the bar area and the restaurant area, unfortunately the wait was annoying. My wife ordered the scampi and chips, I fancied a steak, but then found out they did not have any, so I changed that for steak and ale pie, again we do not have any. Eventually I settled on Hunters Chicken smothered in barbecue sauce, with onion rings and grilled tomato, garnished with rocket. After nearly an hours wait, the same for the family who ordered before ourselves, the meals finally emerged from the kitchen. It must have been the worst Hunters Chicken I have ever had! No barbecue sauce smothered over the chicken, no grilled tomato, and certainly no onion rings, and the texture of the cooked chicken breast was dry, the rocket lettuce garnish missing. Certainly not worth the money that I paid for it, but after an hours wait for the food, I was not prepared to wait potentially another hour for the kitchen to correct it. My wife and I ate our meals and left, vowing that we would not spend hard earned money there again. Date night ruined. On the plus side, it was a nice pint of Guinness.

Fantastic. Have eaten here 3 times since Colin and Lisa took over. Wonderful hosts and superb food. We had a party of 23 on Sunday for a family get together. The tables were arranged in the conservatory so we could all mingle and chat without disturbing others. Food was excellent. Freshly prepared and hot. Each table was completely served at a time so no one was waiting. Our guests had come a long way for this get together and every adult highly complimented the whole event. Thank you.

We have eaten here on numerous occasions since Colin & Lisa took over. The food is delicious. Their burger and steak nights are a favorite. All cooked perfectly. The service and friendliness of the Staff is lovely. Decided to go for Christmas dinner. All I can say is what a fabulous meal from start to finish. We will be booking for Christmas ‘23

Not been for a few years due to poor experience. This visit was lovely!! The lights in the conservatory were very festive and the food was hot and pleasant. I had a blue steak cooked perfectly!!

Waited over 1hr 15 for our food to come out. Chicken was so dry it was pretty much inedible. Not worth the wait, won't be returning for a long while.
