   A quiet Monday after Christmas. Stayed for the night. Food was really nice and gotta say the barmaid was working very hard by herself. The manager also went above and beyond when I messed up my booking. Happily visit here again.

   Staff were very helpful, but food was very slow to come from the kitchen 1hour 20 minutes wait, only 9 scampi on plate instead of 12, all 3 plates were missing scampi,which was rectified by the waiter ,pub was not full, so no excuse for the delay, but as I said the front of house were very helpful. And too many dogs in the place for my liking. I will not be returning and would not recommend to anyone I know.

   The Old Colonial's beer garden has a fantastic view overlooking the sea and the promenade, with the Weston Arch in sight. It was a perfect place for a drink and a meal as the sun went down. Very easy to get to, located right by Melrose car park.

   Visited here yesterday for food and drinks. Weather was lovely. Both indoor and outdoor seating available. Mix up with intolerance on meal order which I had stated twice when it was being putting through. Which ended with meal having to be sent back and recooked. Lucky enough it was rectified quickly and my son was offered a free pop while he waited.

   I've read alot of mixed reviews here .. I'm currently here now. The staff cannot be faulted .. all young and friendly .. maybe a little inexperienced .. but come on... we were all that age once finding our feet in life. the food is hot and cooked well, with generous/ ample proportions and delivered quickly . yes... the pub needs a refurb... to alleviate sticky tables I would suggest a quick fix is to issue beer mats... but you have to put yourself in the shoes of the owners... TBH I've stayed in Weston over the last 30yrs.... it's my stress reliever .... but over time I've noticed a drop in visitors..even now at the height of the factory shutdowns the place is sparsely populated . So for the owner to enter into a major refurb may kill off the place financially. But give the Old Colonial a chance... great staff...great food...friendly atmosphere. the rooms and beds clean ... look beyond the dated furnishings xx .... they are doing their best in a struggling market

   Was a little worried when we turned up because the exterior of the building looks almost dilapidated. Although we arrived early and was able to park. Check in at 2pm was swift and the room was huge with a nice bathroom and sea view from the top floor. Room 6.

   I'd highly recommend The Old Colonial for anyone to either visit them for a meal or to stay in the rooms from booking with them. All the staff are very friendly, polite and helpful to any requirements you may need. The double room with sea view I had was very spacious as well as comfortable. The breakfast for those staying with them is excellent, with a choice of full English or vegan breakfast along with the option of continental breakfast, the main meals throughout the day are a good selection of choices for all the family and there's a very good selection of drinks whatever your tipple may be. It's also about a 5 minute walk away from attractions such as The Grand Pier and the town centre.

   First time visit to the Old Colonial. The staff were VERY friendly, welcoming and helpful. They had decorated the pub for Halloween and the effort was superb. The drinks were good and well priced. I wasn't keen on the food though. My partner has the mixed grill, which he said was lovely. I had the burger.... it was definitely not worth the £12 that was spent on it. The beef patties were horrible, they tasted cheap and rubbery and I couldn't eat them. The chicken fillet wasn't that much better, but was edible. I was Dissapointed in my meal and I definitely wouldn't order any of the burgers again. I gave 3 stars because of the decor and the staff. I hope to visit again and boost it up by trying something else to eat.
