I took my car to Kwik Fit yesterday due to a front tyre that had been gradually losing pressure over the course of a week. After inspecting all four tyres, the technician informed me that the wheel bolts on the car were seized and could not be removed. This struck me as unusual, as I had only recently purchased the vehicle from a garage and it had recently passed an MOT. I was advised that a breaker bar would be required to remove the bolts, with the risk that they could snap. Shortly afterwards, I was told that the first bolt they tried removing, had indeed sheared. I was then informed that my car would require a new hub, bolts and nuts in addition to the tyre. The technician also pointed out that the front passenger-side tyre was approaching the legal tread limit and recommended replacing that as well, which I accepted. However, I was also advised that the bolts on the passenger-side front wheel were also βover-tightenedβ and likely to snap, meaning both front hubs, bearings and tyres would probably need replacing along with the associated labour costs. Today, Kwik Fit called me and I was quoted Β£834 for parts, tyres and labour. As you can imagine, this was a massive kick in the teeth with christmas coming up and for what should have been a simple tyre replacement. Nevertheless, I know routine maintenance can sometimes throw unexpected curveballs, so I decided to weigh up my options and get a second opinion. Given the scale of the work proposed and the fact I haven't had the car that long, I contacted the garage from which I had purchased the vehicle. They were extremely helpful and prompt. Within 15 minutes of my call, they inspected the car and removed every wheel nut on the car in my presence, without any difficulty whatsoever. They further advised that the snapped stud could be removed from the hub using a centre punch and replaced individually, with no requirement to replace the entire hub. This experience has led me to question the advice provided by the Kwik Fit employee. It is becoming increasingly apparent that what has likely happened is that the wheel stud was damaged by the Kwik Fit employee during removal. More than likely, they have accidently overtightended the bolt rather than loosening it, causing it to snap - and then had the audacity to blame the original garage rather than admit their mistake. Furthermore, the recommendation to replace entire hubs on both front wheels, rather than carrying out a far simpler and considerably cheaper stud replacement, raises concerns around either a lack of expertise or unnecessary upselling. What I find most disappointing is the apparent lack of transparency and the attempt to justify extensive and costly work that was ultimately unnecessary. Had they been honest from the start, I would have been a lot more understanding. Now I just feel extremely inconvenienced and thankful that I'm not so naive to take their advice as gospel. I do not leave reviews lightly, but this experience has been a significant inconvenience and reflects very poorly on Kwik Fit. It was my first time using them, and it will undoubtedly be my last.

I was extremely impressed with Kwik fit Newport when I went to have the tracking and wheel balancing done on our car. Someone had told us that the tracking looked out and to get it sorted so booked in with Kwik fit Newport to get it done. The checking service was free and when they examined it they said that there was nothing wrong with the car and we didnβt need to go ahead with the repairs/work. I can guarantee that a lot of places would have charged us for something that didnβt need doing. Not Kwik Fit Newport! Thanks so much for your help and honesty.

Called in without a booking on Sunday after a punctured tyre had left my wife stranded on the Motorway. Ellis was very friendly and super helpful. With Robβs great attitude they had available tyres in stock and turned the car around in about 30 minutes start to finish. Fabulous service all found gentleman, very refreshing in this day and age. Other customers in the waiting room were also very complimentary about your service. Well done, I would thoroughly recommend your high service levels here.

I love taking my car here. I always ask for brilliant Bryn as he always explains things really clearly and lays out the options available. John on MOT also great. You do need more staff at this center though! Not being able to get MOT and service done at the same time is disappointing.

I had a tyre damaged by a massive pothole on New Year's eve, discovered it on the bank Holiday Monday. Called Newport as my nearest, spoke to Martin who was incredibly friendly and helpful. Matched the online price, left the car with them and despite being understaffed by 50%, tyre was charged within the hour. Excellent service, thanks!

Booked a visit for my car to have two tyres fitted. VRM X60PMF Audi Q5 55 Tfsi e vorsprung competition. Also requested online when paying for the tyres and booking the appointment a battery check a visual check of the brakes along with the common sense free alignment check as new tyres are being bought. Was informed that part of the alignment needed adjustment and was shown to me. Informed that the cars advanced assistance features would need to be checked and possibly adjusted but they were unable to perform this on the day. My point is you know the exact model of the car coming and what has been requested and how this could affect the systems of the car as I was also handed a leaflet on adjusting the system at this service centre. Why then allow the booking for this work on this car when your unable to carry out the possible work nee to correct any errors. Just a pointer for further consideration. Another of note there was a water dispenser for customers but nothing else. I was expecting a drinks machine but sadly no, customers were leaving the centre to get drinks. The staff were polite, there appeared to be very few for the size of the depot and the manager I believe appeared a little stressed but still professional, polite and courteous. Regards Ian Franklin
