I was so impressed with another Lidl near hospital in Leicester, so I came to other branch / shop, I’m still very impressed with their bakery area, I bought a piece each of chocolate brownie, croissant, egg tart, donut and super freshly baked French stick, really love the idea that I can have or try 1 piece of whatever yummy cakes that are available of the day. The shop again has almost everything that I would expect from a supermarket, fresh veg & fruits, fresh & frozen meat, ready meals, cakes & desserts, plenty drinks - wine, all sorts of milk, squash, soft drinks, flavored water, juices, everyday items - toiletries, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, creams, toothpaste/brushes, clothings, newsletters & magazines, gifts & greeting cards, pet care & foods, seasonal products, some tools, plants and garden stuffs too, and more. Unfortunately, the day I went (23rd April 2022) there were lots of empty shelves, not sure if supply issues or short of staff?! Store is a lot smaller than the last one I went to, not much space, not as bright and unfortunately not as clean. The shop still provides hand sanitizer and cleaning products which is very useful. Free Parking spaces, including disabled spaces and parents & children spaces, with time limit, I saw notices up but didn’t pay much attention. I have to say the car park is very dangerous, there are a few zebra crossings and it seems to be an one way driving system but cars were from and traveling all over the car park, very dangerous for drivers and walkers. My check out experience was bad, there was Only ONE check out available, as the shop was crowded and the queue I was in was blocking everyone, I kept apologizing to everyone and everyone kept apologizing to me!!!!! 5 minutes in, a lady in front of us said the check out was closing and there was another check out was opening, but situation was very messy and customers were not happy who should go first and staff was not helpful, at one point, the 2 checkout girls were asking a male staff (believe he’s the supervisor??) to help, he argued with them and didn’t get them or us help!!!!! Although there were self checkout tills but again lots of customers using and they were only for customers with baskets or a few items! Overall, It’s an ok shop but I will travel to another Lidl instead of coming back this one.

27/08/25 9:46pm-9:57pm 217 Fosse Road North, Leicester, LE3 5EZ Appalling customer service. Arrived at 9:46pm and aware the store closed at 10pm. Me and my partner were just grabbing a few items to make dinner and whilst I was at the checkout i realised I had forgotten to pick up cereal. I asked my partner to run back whilst I put the items through baring in mind this was at 9:55pm with 5 minutes to go, a white woman sitting at the till started shouting across the store demanding that he leaves as ‘the store is now shut’ my partner replied and said ‘I’m just quickly grabbing some cereal and will be on my way’ your staff member then proceed to shout across the store again ‘I don’t care I have been here since 8am some of us want to go home’ she then proceeded to speak through a headphone set I assume the staff use to speak with each other demanding someone come and remove him from the store in front of myself and other people at the check out ensuring her voice level was high enough that we can all hear. she then got off the till once he walked back to me and slammed the till gate and walked up another aisle to 2/3 other members of staff. Please keep in mind we had left the store at 9:57pm so we had still left the store before the official closed time of 10:00pm. If it wasn’t for the time I would have left the items there and walked out. Her behaviour was completely out of order and rude. I and my partner both work in customer service jobs and understand the frustrations of people staying behind after the business has closed however this just wasn’t the case in this situation. I quite frankly also don’t care that she had been there since 8am she has chosen to take that job and accepted that shift/shift pattern that is not our responsibility or problem to deal with and she shouldn’t feel entitled enough to speak to your customers in that way. If this is a matter of having problems with other customers staying late then you need to as a company instruct your staff on shift or security to stand at the door and not allow people in once a certain time has been hit not allow staff members to try and publically humiliate your customers. I would like a response regarding this - if not I will seek to raise this complaint higher.

Outdated trolley system – losing customers It’s frustrating that Lidl still requires a coin or token for trolleys in a time when cash is barely used anymore in the UK. To make things worse, there are never any tokens available in store for customers caught without change. I understand some areas might have issues with trolley theft, but realistically, how many trolleys can disappear compared to how many customers are walking away out of frustration? This has happened to me twice now – I ended up leaving and shopping at different shop instead, where I could get a trolley without any hassle. Lidl needs to modernize their system – app-based locks, card-operated trolleys, or just removing the locks entirely like most competitors. Until then, I’ll take my business elsewhere.

The shop could use a bit of cleaning. It wasn't too messy but just a few boxes thrown around like they do in lidls

Wow. Sensible prices and a brilliant stock of products to suit all needs. And get this, slipper socks I have been looking for, in other outlets selling for vastly inflated prices, were three pounds odd at Lidl. They put customers before greed. Well done Lidl, you've got the sales technique right. Lower the prices and you get more customers.

No tills open, when we had a fairly large basket, and being Christmas time you would have thought they were on the tills. Friendly enough staff but you could tell patience was wearing thin for a Monday morning. Meh.

when is the product update? I prefer to buy groceries in the morning but the shelves are always empty. On weekends, I understand there is no delivery of goods at all. When should I come to buy fruits and vegetables, fish, meat???
