Small for a Tesco Extra. They don't stock many products I'd expect to find in an Extra, so I often have to head to the one in Cardiff western avenue (if not one of the competitor supermarket nearby). Still it's in a very convenient location, has friendly staff and the store is very clean. It also has a petrol station on site that has a small tesco store inside, which offers some stock that's different from what's found in the Extra.

Having shopped here for years, this store has finally commited commercial suicide as far as I am concerned. When will the people who run this company realise that people hate self-service machines? They never work without intervention, and with one stressed member of staff for every three or four machines it's not like the wage bill is reduced - there's actually at least twice as many as ever used to be on the tills, yet the whole process is painful? The end result is a shopping process that annoys the customer and takes twice as long as it would have done on a conventional manned checkout. For anyone interested, both MOrisons and Asda have realised this is the wrong way to go, and have started putting more staff back on rolling conveyor belts, and despite the fact that it's more inconvenient to go to either of them, they now have my custom. Goodbye Tesco.

The introduction of the self service conveyor belt tills has resulted in very low numbers of actual service till operators. There is already a large number of basket and scan tills already which requires operators to assist with alcohol and bag and weight problems. So now to add extra tills whilst appearing to speed up customers experiences has in fact worsened them. The new tills continually have issues requiring assistance. On A busy Friday morning there was just one actual till operator who had to keep getting up from scanning my items to assist 2 other customers on these new tills. It was embarrassing for the member of staff and resulted in 3 customers having a slow experience. There was only 1 other member of staff on for the basket scan stations and 1 at the kiosk with customers queuing everywhere. The whole experience for both staff and customers was dissapointing.

Aldi salt and pepper grinders can be opened and refilled. Tesco have made a conscious decision to make their grinders single use. Really do not like Tesco products.

Cosy store in cosy location. Feels very friendly. However, it seems there's a slight problem with management. I picked up a tub of yoghurt and it spilled all over me.. it was open!! Also, in the big water section, there were no multi pack of normal water, only individual bottles.

Rude staff. My mate and I popped in to buy some drinks on 6/1/23. We accidentally ended up in the card only lane and the lady had to call over a guy to use the cash lane next to her. While she didnβt card us the guy did and aggressively looked at our IDs and huffed at me saying I guess thatβs ok (Iβm nearly 28). His attitude was off putting and his aggressiveness was over the top considering it was an accident. Why do cash only lanes thatβs what self check out is for.

It's easy to pick fault in large stores and organisations. The Penarth store isnt an Extra so isnt full-ranfe. The store is the staff and the staff at the Penarth Tesco store are friendly people who go the extra mile to help. Many have been there a long time.

Tesco Penarth store 3019 Very helpful and supportive store towards a local Day Service for people with Disabilities. Much appreciated and generous raffle prizes donated The funds raised will go towards providing treats and little extras for the people we support. Thank you from Ambito Sully.

I've seen a review here stating that the floor supervisors and kiosk are rude. Well that isn't true at all. They have always been really friendly and helpful when I've been in here, which is pretty much daily as it's my local store. Great selection of goods and pretty much all you need from a supermarket. ALL the staff here are friendly.

The staff here are superb. Such friendly, kind souls and nothingβs too much trouble. Itβs a delight to grocery shop here. They sell a good selection of flowers and gift cards. Thereβs even tights and kids socks. Being a smaller store theyβve had to be selective with offering but I think theyβve got the balance just right. Great place.
