I've been a patient of Croft Medical for many years, during the periods I've lived in Oadby. I'll be the first to admit that the surgery's quality dropped massively during the pandemic. However, they've taken many steps to rectify this, and as of 2025, I think things are looking markedly better. More online appointments are offered, the reception team has increased its professionalism and politeness, and I do not struggle to get a same-day appointment using the online system. I almost always receive a call within the stated time window, and if I miss it, the GP will always attempt to call again later. If I need a blood test, they're normally able to accommodate same-day or next-day. The GPs I typically see (Makda and Varakantam) are attentive, with a high quality of care, and I always feel like my concerns are taken seriously. My only remaining criticism is that Croft doesn't offer a mix of phone call triage and in-person appointments for non-emergencies , but this unfortunately seems to be a national issue. I've recently moved to Hertfordshire and have had to change practices, but I would thoroughly recommend Croft to residents of Oadby.

Doctors and nurses are very good, but recepionist are not give appoitments which are not been filled to patients. One both me and my wife needed to see doctors and l was given an appointment for same morning and my wife was told it was non urgent was given an appoitment after a week. Whilst I was with Doctor and I mention about my wife symptoms doctor straight way said to me there are told me there are lots of appointment not been allocated, he booked an appoitment straight for the same day. Practice should have procedures to ensure that they are due for medication review. My wife is blood pressure tablets and she tried for repeat prescription but it was blocked. There were no reasons as why it was blocked. Call practice to find out why we cannot do repeat prescription, was sent a link to book an appointment for review. We could not book review until 5 weeks. Hence we had request medication by other method. Review message 2 months prior to people there medication. Certain procedures needs to be addressed to improve patients satisfactory.

Iβve had an excellent experience with Dr. Hardman. She take the time to listen carefully, explain things clearly, and genuinely care about their patientsβ well-being. Appointments never feel rushed, and I always feel comfortable asking questions. The support staff is also friendly and professional, making the whole process smooth. I truly appreciate the quality of care and would highly recommend this GP to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate doctor.

The main reason this surgery is getting 1 star is because of the reception staff β they are consistently rude, patronising, and completely unprofessional. Getting an appointment here is almost impossible. Even when you ring the moment the surgery opens, youβre left in a long queue, and by the time itβs your turn, all the appointments are gone. It feels like a constant battle just to be seen. I rang about my 1-year-old daughter after noticing a rash that had developed over the morning. I was told there were no appointments left, so I explained it was an emergency. The receptionistβs response was: βIf itβs such a big emergency, why havenβt you gone to A&E and why have you left it this late to call?β I was absolutely shocked and furious. To speak to a worried parent like that is unacceptable. When I asked for her name, she quickly started backtracking and trying to sound sympathetic. This is not an isolated incident either β Louise, another receptionist, has been equally rude on multiple occasions. The way patients are treated here is appalling, and it makes an already stressful situation even worse. To get an appointment at this surgery is almost impossible even when you ring as soon as they open, youβre left in a queue of people Awful place.

If I could do a minus rating I would. From the receptionist shouting our asking for your date of birth to the so call nurse that was meant to be doing my cardio scan. She refused as said I was too heavy and would break the metal bed. She shouted at me and if my daughter was not with me and took the photos and videos I donβt know what I would do. Affected my mental health more than I thought possible. Just preparing a complaint.

It is impossible to book an appointment. I waited 1h and 20 minutes on the phone only to be told there are no available places. It was day number 3 to make it more interesting. What is more, as I needed to go to work risk my life and I was also told it is not emergency and the doctor will not call me back. Hiding behind the protocol is what they do. Apparently, you need to have plenty of time and stamina to be able to make an appointment.

Rang my surgery and got the usual covid message, then 'please hold the line as we transfer you to the operator'. After several minutes of silence, I was cut-off. I rang again (and again) and the same thing happened. Clearly they don't want patients to call and this is an easy way of avoiding them - blame it on technology! Totally useless surgery. I then looked at all the other reviews and almost everybody agrees that while the doctors are great, it's simply impossible to see them because the front end reception/online booking/telephone service is so totally inept. I'm sorry to say that this surgery is mismanaged and should be closed. It's a pity because the doctors are great (been going there 20 years), it's just that it is almost impossible to see them.

Expect to wait over an hour on the phone to get through to reception. You will then be told there are no appointments and to call back the next day at 8am. I have been calling for over a week and it is the same everyday. There are no questions asked as to why you need an appointment. I truly believe the healthcare for my 3 year old has been neglected by this practice. I will be making an official complaint as prompted to do by reception. Access to reception and therefore a doctor needs urgently improving as this current system is failing the public and putting lives at risk.

Three years after leaving a bad review about this practice, nothing has changed. It is nearly impossible to get through to reception. I called at 8am for a blood test for my daughter and waited over an hour to be told there are no appointments and to try again tomorrow at 8am....why?! To receive the same message again? I called at 8am and the phone line kept cutting me off. 20 minutes later I get through to be told I am caller 48 on the line. 1 hour and 10 minutes later, the lady on reception was polite but in all honesty there is no help here. I was given the option to try booking online at 8am...but the same scenario lies there...first come, first served at 8am. And I don't understand why your reception is still closed. All other healthcare are now open. Why are you any different? I don't think I stand a chance to get a word with a Dr or getting the blood test appointment for my 3 year old daughter. Croft medical, please sort out your practice. Your clinicians are great but this is unfortunately vastly outweighed by the substandard phone call service. I was told you don't even have a receptionist. My call today was for a non urgent booking, I was told I cant even book a non urgent appointment a few days or a week later. Your practice is capable of being a 5 star practice, but you will never achieve this with this type of phone call experience. Read your reviews, everyone is saying the same thing. Your sincerely, A frustrated and disappointed father.

Yes it takes a while for calls to be answered, but once I get through I have always found staff to be helpful and responsive. I think given the current pressures , both clinical and non clinical staff are doing a great job. I canβt fault the doctors; they have always been caring and taken time to listen.
