Well were do we start!! Butlins meets Pontins with a touch of Saga coach trips!! We booked what we thought would be a festive event, time to enjoy ourselves and re charge our batteries!! Nooooo!! This is what we got!! Crowds of people at every turn!! Bar, restaurant, felt like we were hurded like cattle at a self serve buffet style restaurant!! No alacarte restaurant for us to choose from, and the seating areas we were sat on top of each other, no.privicy at all!! The bar was just as bad, ques upon ques!! Not enough staff to cope with demand!! It takes all the pleasure out of your festive stay!! After our first night experience at the restaurant we decided to sample the festive entertainment!! You may need a guide and compass it took us at least 20 mins to locate the entertainment lounge, up and down flights of stairs meeting people on their way back saying keep going..you'll get there eventually!! When we did arrive at the lounge the que at the bar was a mile long, one member of staff serving, she was run off her feet!! It took at least half an hour to get served!! Entertainment..mmm..very poor..a one man band reading lyrics off a machine..the golden oldies from the coach tours seemed to like him tho!! We stayed for an hour and left!! Purchased another drink for the long journey back to our room!! Our first breakfast was just as bad!! Long ques..not enough staff to clear tables and keep things moveing!! And then to top it off we found that the spa is chargeable, £5.00 each and £2.50 for a towl!! Come on..in every hotel we have ever stayed the use of the spa is complenentary and towls are provided. If you required treatments they are chargeable of course!! We were disgusted when we found this out..it was going to be its last redeeming feature to use the pool, sauna and steam!! Reading some previous reviews, we begrudge paying anything extra as the facilities dont seem to be up to scratch!! We paid nearly £700 for our 3 night stay to see in the New Year..we should of stayed at home and gone abroad after the New Year!! Very very very disappointed would not recomend this place to anyone, unless your up for a coach trip with a load of pensioners!! We are no spring chickens ourselves but we feel we have been had off!! No quiet, romantic get away is this!!

We went for a tribute weekend. On arrival our room was very smelly, we spoke to the manager, who found us another room. The rooms are a good size with TV and coffee machine, our room also had a microwave and fridge. Very clean with a beautiful shower. The tribute acts were great. The lounge bar is lovely, with a very friendly lady Paige. The restaurant needs to re think for vegetarians, if you don't order as soon as you go in, your food won't be ready to eat with your party. But the buffet is lovely, everything you need. Most staff friendly and helpful, especially, Lucy, Lee, Jack and Paige. The hotel was very full, so at breakfast an extra room was opened up, making the experience more relaxing. The bar in the tribute room, needs to take a look into there staff and drinks served. The drinks are 2 for 1 from 7pm till 10pm On selected alcohol. There was a craft fayre on the Saturday, one of the best I've been too. Plus a singer and mince pies were brought around. A very good weekend. Just a few issues.

Driveway and building from the outside, just stunning. Inside great overall decor and furnishings. Bedrooms however one step up from a hostel. Massive dead spider on our room wall (do the cleaners look up?), basic furniture, but overall clean and clean sheets/towels. Dinner canteen style school dinners, not good. Breakfast even worse! Queues constantly, for dining and the bars. Demographic is bus loads of pensioners who love it (good for them) or contractors looking for cheap basic digs. The place was rammed though so lots of people must love it! Not for us.

We stayed 3 nights at this lovely hotel on Caledonian break. Reading some previous reviews I can perhaps see why it is maybe not for solo travellers. It is true that It was very busy and there were queues for breakfast and dinner but the restaurant staff are very helpful and friendly and always found you a table very quickly. It is well worth the wait as the food is amazing. The breakfast was as good as we have had anywhere and a lot better than many we have stayed at with loads of choice. Dinner was effectively a choice between a roast, a veggie option and one other like a curry for example but as it was buffet style you could help yourself to as much as you want from each option. The food was always hot and tasty. The hotel itself is fabulous with many comfortable places to sit and enjoy a drink and chat with friends old and new. As we were with Caledonian we had an excursion each day so we didn't have time to walk around the grounds to appreciate how vast and well laid out they were. The local village is a 5 minute walk through the car park by the church and there is a lovely friendly and welcoming pub which we went to before dinner each night. Finally I would say that the staff are a credit to the hotel. Very friendly and helpful at all times. I would recommend this hotel and going with Caledonian you get a fantastic deal as well.

Visited with my family last weekend. Location great. Hall, grounds and local area really nice. Rooms were clean and everything we needed. The service upon entering was great. The reception staff immediately put me at ease and they did everything they could to accommodate me and my family. They had great empathy for my mum who has dementia. Also the restraunt staff. Thank you for making our family weekend away a lovely memorable experience.

A great place to stay. We arrived on Friday and we were given a warm welcome by the front staff. Heads up, it is a rabbit warren if you don't know where to go, but the staff and maps were very helpful! The food was included and it's a type of carvery where you go up and help yourself (had pork gammon with the trimmings, it was amazing!). Our room was small but very cozy with your standard utilities. Lovely location, a beautiful place to stay!

Beautiful property in amazing surroundings. This hotels standard on cleanliness is on the forefront it was spotless. Great atmosphere when walking around the building to access the hotel areas. The spa facility was great too. Every member of staff I came into contact with, was friendly and informative and always had a smile. I would definitely recommended this hotel, I know if I’m in the area again I wouldn’t think twice about staying here.

Stayed here in September when attending a sports event nearby. Excellent value for money. Got a 3 night deal for £156 which included breakfast and dinner. Room was comfortable with bath and shower. Food was great too. Buffet style for breakfast and dinner with plenty of choice. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

Me and my husband spent our 10th wedding anniversary here. We had a fantastic time. The staff was friendly and very helpful to all our needs. We upgraded to a suite. It was gorgeous, comfortable and very spacious. There was a coffee machine and a fridge. His and her sinks in bathroom and a large bathtub which could fit us both in. The food is buffet style for breakfast and dinner. You can pay extra for the restaurant. We did both. Buffet was nice and tasty. With a good choice too. The restaurant was exquisite. There was no fault anywhere and the service was perfect too. We are definitely coming back here again.
