Stayed for 2 nights with my wife from 12/12, and was more than happy with every aspect of our stay. I've read reviews about the hotel where others have been far from happy but I'm not sure what's expected for the cost of stay. Rooms were clean and spacious, food was good and the staff, especially the bar staff were exceptional.

We chose to stay at the Britannia Hotel for 2 days for its location. Positive: It's situated in the central location, very close to the bus terminal and the city centre. The room was spacious with tea/coffee making facility. The price was very reasonable. Negative: The bed was incredibly uncomfortable - the springs were sticking out, and we had difficulty getting a comfortable sleep. Not only the room but the whole hotel didn't feel clean. This is not a fault of the hotel, but at night, the surrounding area didn't feel safe. Looking through photos, some rooms seem to be better than the others. If you don't expect much, it's OK, but I would choose another hotel next time.

My husband stayed in this "hotel" lasz night. The stuff was as rude as they can be, completely unorofessional. Said that they are having a problem with booking.com and can not accept the booking, which led him pay twice for the room!!! Booking.com wanted to charge £45 to cancel a £45 room!!!! The "lady" refused to give him a room till he cancelled it!!!! Its a rip off place, dirty, filthy and should not be in business!!! Avoid it at all costs!!!!

I absolutely loved my stay in Britannia Coventry. It is a totally old-fashioned hotel with four or five Otis brushed stainless-steel elevators, the rooms are really nice (not luxurious but nice and comfortable and mine was big). The price for each additional day was not much more than 30 pounds, and I chose to have the breakfast which can last up to 3 hours, they have everything, cranberry juice, orange juice, coffee, tea, one of those big old toast machines, and huge trays of unlimited and really big nice sausages, whole stewed tomatoes, nice scrambled eggs, omlettes, fried eggs. I attach some pictures but to understand those are HUGE trays Ah, about the neigbhourhood, it is a 24 hour student neighbourhood, really coming up from how it used to be. But it is international and there are guards watching the door. At night you can go in and out any time, even after 11:00, but to come in you do need to push the buzzer so the receptionist (who is always there) can see you and let you in. Maybe a single older woman might find that a little too intense neighbouhood-wise but for a couple even older I would say it is fine, and for any young person it is fine.

Perfect location for town centre. Next door to Coventry uni, across from bus station. We went here as part of a Caledonian coach holiday, we had 2 rooms both fine clean (apart from 1 hair on bath and a spider web above bed) good size, tea, coffee, kettle, hairdryer, soap, towels, iron and ironing board, plenty of storage, tv and remote. Our holiday included a 241 drinks offer except the barman phoned in sick on the Friday night (Halloween) and they didn't bother to replace him or cancel the entertainment then sent the entertainment home instead of letting them play. so we got no entertainment the 3 nights we stayed. Breakfast and dinner was included Thursday night the chicken thighs were raw, also it's a buffet but your not allowed back up, Friday night a new chef, roast beef absolutely lovely, Saturday night roast turkey again lovely, breakfast was same each day. Saturday morning we go for breakfast at 8.40am to ge told we're supposed to be there at 8am well according to the menu it's served from 8 till 10am nothing about having to be there at 8am. We we're on 3rd floor so didn't have noise problems or see any dodgy people hanging around outside. The 2 male waiters need a training course on customer service. Appalling way they spoke to customers and when asked for his name he replied nonya (none of your business) not to me i just witnessed it. The female waitress was much better and the boy running the bar very helpful.

You get what you pay for. Positive - My room was large, warm and ensuite. Negative - Mis matched furniture, poor maintenance, and very old decor. The reception, cleaning and bar staff were very helpful. I think I will stay elsewhere if I am in Coventry, but am also prepared to pay more for the privilege of a better hotel.

Rooms clean, a bit shabby, beds to narrow for me and uncomfortable pillows.I found the hotel very hot in the rooms so turned the radiators off and it was still hot. Food bland but OK, edible. Everywhere is clean and staff pleasent and helpful.

Stayed in November. Can only check in at 4pm (nice of them to be able to hold luggage while we recce prior to check-in). Check out at 10am, just drop key in box. Big room with super single bed for 2 pax. Heater, hot shower, bathtub, toilet paper, clean bath towels, clean face towels, small hand soap, hair & body shower gel, electric kettle and some clothes hangers. Considerably maintained, a tad old and adequate for night stays. Walking distance from bus stops, eateries and shopping. Night bustling with activities outside but you wont get the noise in the room.

Where to start. Window coming away from frame & stuffed with newspaper to keep it in. Shower broken. No soap in dispenser. Note to say that there would be no bedroom services. Unable to control heating & was at max output. Food was all frozen nothing fresh. Over cooked bacon & eggs in the morning. Tea & coffee was tasteless. In need of decoration & upgrading. Never again.

This hotel is located well if you want to go in to town however it is extremely dated and needs a good clean. Being intoxicated helped me sleep! I had read reviews before my stay (was booked by the company I work for) so I took bleach wipes for the bathroom and was so pleased I had. Not sure how long the gas canisters, toilet seat and beer bottles have been on the roof and was unsure what caused the windows to have what looked like bullet holes in!
