Absolutely would never visit this establishment again. Booked through booking.com, specified we needed a dog friendly room and this place was advertised as suitable to bring pets. We travelled from Plymouth, Devon to visit friends and family before the Christmas period and brought our dog for the first time. We reserved a "Deluxe" king room as judging by the photos these had been recently modernised and refurbished to our taste. When we arrived to check-in the reception told us we couldn't have the room we'd booked due to the dog, and downgraded our room to a standard double. We went up to the room after paying for 3 nights, and was absolutely sickened by what greeted us. Tired old rooms, a terrible smell plus a toenail clipping on the bedroom floor. I went down to reception to ask to checkout immediately as this wasn't the room we had booked/expected and was also unclean. We were told could only be refunded for the Friday and Saturday night as we were past the 24hr notice period advised on booking.com however we did not get provided with the room we had initially booked so this shouldn't have applied especially with the uncleanliness. Was told by reception would need to speak to manager tomorrow to discuss our complaint. I left close to tears as we then had nowhere to stay after a long journey with our pet. We spoke to management the following day who still refuse to refund the Thursday night yet have now removed the "pet friendly" option from booking.com so clearly there has been a huge mistake on the hotels behalf but refusing to take any responsibility or acknowledgement for our less than satisfactory impression. I can assure you that I will not return to this hotel and will ensure I put our story to friends and family in the area to avoid like the plague! If anyone IS looking for an entirely dog friendly hotel nearby with ALL dog friendly rooms, good quality and CLEAN facilities and a really great restaurant and bar - The Barn @ Berryfields is the place you want to be! Plus very helpful, friendly and competent staff!

Went for a couple of drinks terrible management a lady with short grey hair donna I assume is manager or possibly owner thinks she’s a bouncer the way she acts looking for anything to pick on you for must be a power trip of some sort very rude and aggressive not welcoming at all she needs to learn customer service at her age should definitely know by now probably in her 60s I wouldn’t recommend avoid!!! There’s a lot cheaper and nicer customer service within the local area

We have been using this hotel for many years now, and recently it has acquired new ownership and to be perfectly honest they are doing a great job on every front. Some of the staff have been there for years and its great to meet them every time we return, we have just returned from our latest visit and this time had one of there newly refurbished rooms and it was super, well done to the whole team, see you soon.

Basic family room- clean and everything we needed and expected. Staff were very friendly and compliments to the chef. Dinner and breakfast we couldn’t fault and cooked to just how we liked it. The grounds were tidy and had a lovely area to sit outside. The location was great and overall was a really lovely hotel to stay in.

The Jacobean Hotel is on the Holyhead Road going out of Coventry in the direction of Birmingham. The bar area is a lovely place to go to for eats and drinks and if you need to you can stay in the hotel too. The Jacobean is in very pleasant surroundings. If you decide to try the outside seating, you can see the countryside area called Coundon Wedge which is a lovely place to go to for a walk. There are wooded areas there, fields and a stream, all of which is beautiful. The Jacobean Hotel in this lovely area, is highly recommended.

We stayed a couple of nights for a family event in Coventry. Our room, 40, was comfy but not overly large. Down stairs is a large bar/restaurant area and upstairs is a sitting area with a small library. The resturant has a nice menu, and everything we ordered was enjoyable, with the exception of the triple cooked chips. However the manager offered to change them without a hesitation. So the Jacobean is fine for short stays. What actually made our stay was the service from the staff, always helpful and welcoming.

Small quiet place off the main road. Quick ride into the city center but far enough away in a neighborhood area. Bed and room was clean and smelled great, looked like some new additions had been made mainly to the bathroom. The layout of the bathroom was a bit odd, no enclosing of shower area so the room and toilet got wet pretty quick with one rinse. Other than that lovely big bed and nice front staff. Restaurant serves till 9 and bar closes at 11. 5/5, wonderful stay.

Thank you to all the staff for not only looking after relatives visiting from Ireland for a funeral but also for providing a lovely roast dinner for us all at the wake. Food was hot, tasty and cooked to perfection. Nothing was too much trouble and we really appreciated the service and professionalism shown to us all. I can’t comment on the rooms - relatives who stayed over said they were clean and staff were friendly and accommodating. This place is ideally situated for travel to/from Birmingham airport due to its location in Coventry.

We enjoyed our stay here. The room was very clean, all electrical items were safe (something you don't get at Holiday Inn) Front of House young lady was lovely, she also served breakfast the two days we stayed. My only suggestion would be to light the car park and entrance gates better (no lighting at all on the gate), this would make it both safer and easier to find on the coming darker nights.
