I stayed at the Kenilworth Holiday Inn about a week and a half ago, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The bathroom wasn’t just poorly cleaned — it hadn’t been cleaned at all. There was toothpaste residue in the sink, hair and grime in the bathtub, and dirty tiles (see attached photos). The worst part is that I only realized it after using the bathroom, which made me feel absolutely disgusted knowing it hadn’t been cleaned before my stay. It was late and I was exhausted, so I sent an email that night to let them know. The next morning, I had to call reception three times before someone finally came to clean the bathroom so I could use it again. For all this trouble, the only compensation I was offered was a 30% discount — which honestly felt like an insult given how unpleasant the experience was. Terrible service, poor cleanliness standards, and no real sense of accountability. I will never stay at this property again, and I strongly advise others to think twice before booking. —Edit— They promised 30% OFF the first night and 2 months later and a call and still I haven’t received my money back

The staff are amazing and very friendly, and the rooms are comfy and clean, but the walls are paper-thin. There was a party downstairs on the Saturday night that was very noisy and kept me awake well into the night; it was also very loud if anyone walked past my room, or if a door or mattress created in the room upstairs. Location was ideal though.

Thank goodness my buisiness paid for this stay. I travel quite a lot with work but this has got to be the worst hotel ive stayed in for a while. Starting with the rooms, basic, not as advertised online. No where to charge your phone near the bed, questionable bedding stains (with a crusted bogie when I pulled back the duvet), pillows that might as well be bricks and the aircon system that does not work in my room. I went down for dinner and I wish id gone to papa John's across the road as I waited an hour and 15 for a chicken burger, this only arrived because I prompted staff. It arrived cold and overcooked i left over half of it. I ordered pudding too when I placed my initial order and as if been waiting i reminded that I had placed that order. Again, it arrived with congealed custard from not being heated enough and still only luke warm. In total I was there 2 hours for a table of 1... I went to give feedback to reception but he was like a deer in headlights and didnt know what to do, so all fell on deaf ears. So im now here at 5am writing a review as ive had terrible sleep before my work meeting because of the uncomfortable bed, wishing id braved the 2.5 hour drive in the morning instead.

From the moment we arrived, the experience was frustrating. At check-in, we were unexpectedly told we had to pay £10 for parking – something that was never mentioned during booking. We had also booked a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast package, but the receptionist insisted it wasn’t included until I showed the confirmation email. He said he would inform the bar staff, but this never happened. When we went for dinner, we mentioned our DBB booking again and were told that adults only received one course from the main menu, while children received three courses. It wasn’t until I checked the hotel’s own website that I found it clearly stated adults also receive three courses. We selected from the main menu, only to then be told there was a separate DBB menu – which had nothing my husband could eat. After explaining the conflicting information, they reluctantly agreed to allow one course. We also asked if the children’s meals (they are 3 and 4) could come out as soon as ready. Despite this, I had to chase their food, and when it arrived, their starter and main came out together. Our mains were served before our starters, and when my fish and chips eventually arrived, the wrong type of chips were served. Worse, the fish was completely inedible – it was off, and I had to spit it out. By this point, we had lost all confidence in the service. The manager offered a discount, but situations like this should never escalate to that point. Staff training, communication, and basic food quality urgently need attention. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Holiday Inn Kenilworth almost gives a false idea of how nice it will be. The lobby and breakfast is clean, modern and tidy. Its nice and gives the impression the rest of the hotel will be nice. The rest of the hotel felt tired, with the rooms needing refurbishment. My initial room was okay, but the bathroom door was in dire need of replacement and the rest of the room could have done with refurbishment. That was the positives end for the first room as at 10pm at night the bathroom started leaking with water coming through the bathroom's lights. We were given a new room after waiting some time in the lobby for staff to help. Our new room was very hot so we had to use a fan to cool it down, and the TV did not work. I slept okay. The hotel was quiet. It was in a good location. Breakfast was nice and had a good selection, so that redeemed the stay slightly.

We have stayed at this Holiday Inn before and it was better 6 years ago to be honest. The place is looking very tired and needs updating. Its hardly cheap for a 3 star for a family of five but the location alone makes it worthwhile. We had 2 rooms booked- one had a small oil filled radiator in it as there was no heating working in the room which i find unacceptable. There was also no kettle. If you are going to have family rooms offered then why are there only 2 mugs available when you know more people are staying in the room? We were on the 4th floor and had to pass a corridor again with heating issues that smelt of damp. It was absolutely freezing in there. There was only one lift working. Staff are friendly but the place is looking very tired. I think breakfast at £10/head is overpriced for what you get. Again huge margins being made here for convenience and location as they know people with children want that. Parking was difficult to say the least esp as someone got stuck entering the car park the wrong way causing a huge jam. Overall needs much improvement.

A fine stay, but nothing special, and if i visited area again i would look at other options. Check in slow. Room key stopped working twice. Rooms quite small, suitable for sleeping only. Chair at desk uncomfortable. Decent sized TV. Bed offers suprisingly good sleep as mattress doesnt feel great when sat on, but absolutely fine when led on. Bathroom clean but tiring, rusty plughole, tired and discolouring sealant, but fine overall. Colleague had to change rooms as no hot water. Aircon loud; arguably overpowered for a small room (a good thing in my opinion). WiFi free and good. Breakfast very good compared to Premier Inn, Jurys Inn, etc. Bar service is very good, very friendly, but drinks expensive. Wind tends to whistle past windows when it blows. My colleague's window was broken.

Excellent service from very helpful staff. Really nice room (a refurbished one) and public areas. The car park couldn't handle a full hotel but that was exacerbated by a few vans taking up more than one space. Don't arrive after 9pm and expecting a space! Handy for the NEC and cheaper than the on site hotels there.

Would be good except there are no stairs up to your rooms. You can only travel up in one of the two lifts. So if someone in the hotel has Covid then everyone has a high risk of catching it. I also dislike lifts anyway. I was able to walk down one of the fire exits but there is not a handle on the stairway to enable you to walk up. Also there is a sign saying you cannot use the stairs. So very disappointed in the hotels understanding of Covid hygiene. When we visited only one of the lofts worked & it is only big enough for around 4 people so no air clearance.

Gave four stars for rooms as a slight repaint in the bathroom is needed. Perhaps sanitary bags in the bathroom would be a good touch. The room was excellent and extremely clean, not a spek of dust anywhere. Bed perfectly comfortable wonderful sleep. Picks added are after we slept in the bed. Very spacious.
