I had a pleasant and cozy stay at this hotel, which is actually a converted residential home - making it a cheap and great option for a short stay in Wales. The location can be a bit tricky to find at first since itβs camouflaged among the surrounding houses. Parking is available, but youβll need to access it through a small lane behind the building. One of the biggest advantages is the public bus stop located right in front of the hotel, making it very convenient for backpackers and travelers relying on public transport. The hotel closes at night (around 9 PM) and reopens in the morning around 8 AM. Breakfast wasnβt available during my stay due to some issues, but the staff were extremely polite, friendly, and helpful throughout. A special mention: I accidentally left my phone behind after checking out, and when I called them, the staff immediately secured it and kept it safely in the room. When I returned, they handed it back with a warm smile-truly appreciated! Overall, a comfortable, budget-friendly, and well-located stay with great staff support. Would recommend for quick trips and backpackers visiting the area.

Perfectly located, just outside of the city centre. Lovely host. Bargain price for an overnight stay in Cardiff. Thoroughly recommend.

We stayed at Tanes for 2 night. We only needed a room as we were in Cardiff for a Castle concert ( Pet Shop Boys) and some shopping. We got that and more A lovely welcome by the owner to room 11 ( groundfloor) Stylish decor, fab en-suite with fresh towels both days. Copious hot water and nice smelling shower gel. The beds were comfy and the bedding nice and crisp. Previous reviews have mentioned ' the really busy road' yes it's Newport Road. Windows closed the noise stays outside. We didn't use the car park as we arrived late and it was full, as we exited the back lane there was plenty of unlimited parking on the residential street just a short walk to the front door of the hotel. We have decided Tanes will be revisited in the future.

Lovely welcoming when we got there. Rooms were clean and tidy with towels and slippers on the beds. Both toilet and bathroom were spotless, could not complain about a thing. Had family stay at a travel lodge and looks like they drew the short straw in hotels.

Quiet, clean hotel 35 min walk from Cardiff central station. Pretty pricey at least during the Lana del Rey concert. Room was small without a private bathroom, but I didn't have a problem because there weren't many guests. Interior is pretty and good quality. Good for one night. No breakfast at this time.

Mostly an ok place to stay, but there are false amenities listed. We're asked not to eat in our rooms, however the dining room is locked every time I try. As someone traveling with a food allergy this is a huge huge problem. We're told there is a guest lounge on the first floor, but it is nowhere to be found. Of note, as an ex smoker it was clear to me someone had smoked in the room previously. Also, really gross there are no top sheets on the bed, just a fitted. What bodily fluids am I sharing with previous guests? Absolutely disgusting to think about. My biggest complaint is that my door was knocked on aggressively to check out a day before I was to check out, while I was trying to adjust for jet lag. Absolutely startled from my sleep for no reason. I can't see giving a positive review based on the above. Had the amenities been there and I hadn't been startled from my sleep for no good reason, this would have been at least a 4 star review, you decide.

Excellent stay. Good, clean room at great value for price. Comfortable bed and within easy walking distance of Cardiff city centre. Shared shower and loo spotless, clean and fresh at all times and good tea/coffee making facilities. Very grateful to host for allowing me into room ahead of booking-in time after strenuous journey. I would hope to stay here again when visiting Cardiff and surroundings. Only drawback second night was neighbour with TV on full volume all night through. Not the hotel's fault, of course, but a reminder to some that a hotel is shared with others and to please be mindful that not everyone appreciates an involuntary blow-by-blow commentary on the queen's lying in state from 11pm to 5am.

I booked a single room here at short notice direct with hotel and was very happy with the price for a few nights stay . Hotel manager / Host met me on arrival and was very polite and easy to talk to. My room was very clean and fresh with a sink , TV , tea and coffee and a comfortable bed, the housekeeping staff were also very nice and chatty and kept the room nice and clean and topped up with tea/coffee etc daily. The toilet and shower area was just outside the room and was also very clean, I honestly couldn't fault this hotel and would certainly recommend to others. There is private car parking for guests however there is ample street parking around the hotel also. The huge town centre is only 0.7 miles from the hotel where there is plenty of places to eat for breakfast/lunch or snacks. I will be making regular visits to Crdiff in the coming months and will certainly be hoping to stay here each time

5 out of 5 as the hotelier went out of his way to welcome me even though I arrived late. Room was clean, kettle was a nice touch and well stocked. Bed simple, comfortable. Shared shower small but clean with provided toiletries. Sink in room and working TV. My only negative would be a very busy street outside, might be worth sleeping with the window closed. Great value for the price.
