I can only share my booking experience so far but I have to say I am impressed. We’ve booked a holiday for 2026 from Australia. Scott was thoughtful and queried whether I needed a ground floor room before I even considered my mobility. Also, we’re bringing our dog over and she has been accommodated and is looking forward to her breakfast sausage! The hotel is near the beach, it looks amazing and we can’t wait to visit next year!

Many stairs no good if you have dogs but he’s got ground floor rooms which he keeps for his regulars and you can’t book in advance. Read reviews about breakfast saying great but nothing special just a cooked breakfast like you would get anywhere. Dirt round the bathroom sink taps which you could easy clean to get off but they don’t. Can’t access garden from hotel as he wouldn’t open the door to it. You have to go outside the doors round to the garden then step over a small wall to enter. If you like climbing hills then this is for you but not for me. Ask for his ground floor room and hopefully you get it if his friends not booking it. I just wanted to leave a honest review

Judith and Scott made our break away very special and helped make my friend in a wheelchair very comfortable. Lovely relaxing lounge area with sea view. Lovely breakfast too.

The Guest house was lovely, the breakfast was fantastic, not greasy, which was great for us. A few issue with the room, but it does happen with old houses! didnot spoilt our stay, the room was lovely and well presented. Would definitely stay there again, but this time i would bring our dogs. The owners were lovely. Thank you.

Highlea over priced! I cannot speak for the other rooms at Highlea, but the room we stayed in - Room 1 - was utterly shocking. So much so, we were considering just leaving and going somewhere else, but for £85! we stayed the night anyway, and it was an experience we will never forget. The room was gross and very poorly maintained. The door looked like it had been smashed in, which was a great first impression. The window opened directly onto the pavement outside, and there were no handles on the latches to comfortably secure it. The beds were both terrible. The mattresses had both collapsed and a topper added which made for the most uncomfortable back-breaking sleep I have ever had. I found my asthma had flared up to the point I needed to use my reliever for the first time in over a year. I found out why in the morning, after looking behind the bed, there was a foul mess of dust and crap just behind my headboard, nice. The shower was equally bad, with black mould, a calcified filthy shower head, flaking paintwork, and the extractor fan was clogged to the point it barely functioned. The general look of the room on Booking led us to believe this was worth the money, but no matter how much you paint a turd, it's still a turd. It's time to stop milking the cash cow and show this room some real love, not just put more make-up on it.

This guest house is 2 minute walk from the beach. it's set on back street. There was a sea view from our room. Scott and Judith are lovely hosts and friendly. Scott messaged to say that our room wasn't in use the night before if we wanted to check in early which was really nice and that he had changed our room which again was nice of him. Definitely say the breakfast was amazing and lovely and hot. There is limited free parking on the road outside guest House but read signs as not all the road. There is a 24hr car park 2 minutes from Guest House if needed.

Just got back from a weekend break. Scott was extremely welcoming and helped with our luggage up to the room which was helpful. Room was lovely. Sea view and everything you needed. Teenagers were straight on the WiFi and I heard no complaints from them. Thank you Scott.

Scott and Judith were wonderful hosts. They made everyone feel welcome. Accomadation was good and very clean. I must mention the breakfast, second to none, even a sausage for the dog (not in the restaurant). Thanks so much for a great stay. Look forward to seeing you again.

What a lovely greeting we received from the owners when we arrived. So friendly and welcoming. Room was a decent size for three of us, plus a puppy. Clean and tidy. The breakfast the next morning was so good, complemented by the lovely owners again. Can't recommend them high enough.
