We checked in, my partner is Romanian but has settled in England and when asked to show ID for the room he booked and gave an English drivers licence, he was told he needed a passport!!!! This was not told to us beforehand and we were lucky to get in but I bet they didn't ask all of the OAP's there for a passport!!!!!

Returned this year after last. And what a decline this hotel has seen. Meals were awful, well should I say the portions. Food either undercooked or over cooked. Staff were ignorant, and however they get a 5 star rating is beyond me. There were a couple of reception staff that were very well spoken and couldn’t do enough for you, so hats off to them, but overall the rating for this place would be 1. Will definitely not be returning after this experience and wound t recomnend either. Entertainment wise, a couple of nights were ok but rest awful.

No idea how this place has anything higher then a 1 star. Absolutely awful from start to finish. Staff couldn't give a toss weather your happy or not so wouldnt waste your time trying to complain about the smell, the dirtiness or the stains in your room.

Would put a 0 star rating if I could. Staff incredibly rude and obnoxious. Room was filthy, even the hallways to the rooms weren't wide enough to swing a cat. Checked out a day early due to poor service and cleanliness and they refused to compensate or even apologise for the awful expereince. Would rather sleep in a tent under the pier. Much nicer options around - dont waste your money here unless you prefer stained bed sheets, unknown substance stains on the walls, burns on the carpet and to be spoken to like dirt, then this might acctually be the place for you.

Was there for an army reunion, rooms were clean, food was OK. It had entertainment on the Saturday night which was great. Beer wasn't to expensive. Second visit for our reunion, brilliant time again, thanks to all the staff.

Beautifully well maintained rooms, staff very helpful and friendly, quality food, every meal was a joy, 24 hour, manned/womaned reception, brilliant entertainment with live singers, bingo and a fully stocked bar. Orr inspiring views from within many rooms with even more inspiring views of the sea front which is at the front of the hotel, also an awesome shopping center, both within ten seconds of the main entrance depending on how fast you walk of course. Highly recommended.

What a great Hotel with friendly friendly staff. Spent an overnight stay here after seeing a show at The Playhouse. Got back from the show to live music by the Bowtie Boys down in the bar and danced the rest of the evening. Rooms were good, clean and comfortable. If you are looking for a modern hotel this is not for you, but an old victoriana hotel has all the charm of its decor and quirky lifts and lots of charm. Definitely use this again. One little niggle was that there was a hair in an egg so kitchen staff please wear hairnets.

The rooms are typical for old buildings, with plenty of narrow corridors and up-n-down creaking stairways between them. No mod-cons, which keeps the price down. Showers are bulk-standard standing room-only with a curtain and not much room for manoeuvre. No bath in my double room. A couple of small wrapped soaps, no gel or dispenser. Filthy windows (outside, probably hard to get to, and it IS seafront so open to elements and gulls etc) My bathroom smelled slightly of sewage but opening the window soon got rid of that (the smell of fried doughnuts and candyfloss taking it's place) Bed is not uncomfortable, but other customers complained about money under the mattress showing a lack of thorough cleaning (why on earth was that person lifting their mattress?) The well-stacked bar and fair-sized dining room are faultless, with helpful and friendly staff, good food (cooked perhaps with OAP's and dentures in mind. Very soft meat) and not too big a menu. Good service in both. There's a large TV lounge which is very comfortable. Lovely staff, and the only reason there's a star missing on 'service' is down to the LACK of staff. Out of their control since Brexit and the pandemic (UK lost a lot of foreigners who would have been hotel workers, and hotels have been hit financially through loss of business last year) The location is almost perfect. In fact, from a customer perspective, it's probably 99%, right near the beach with great sea views. The missing 1% ? Well, that'd be the mood their coach driver's going to be in, and why the location isn't a five-star. Unless your coach driver is willing to risk points or a fine by dropping you off or loading in a no-loading zone, there is NOWHERE in easy luggage-carrying distance to set-down or pick-up My coach had to move to allow another coach in so the main road could start moving again, and this meant no time to tell passengers where to be the next morning (so several people missed a trip out). With 3 hotels around Victoria Square, maybe remove the 4 car park spaces to provide a coach loading bay, something the hotel's might approach the council about? I'd definitely go again by car, or to a neighbouring hotel by coach. One without loading restrictions surrounding it

I speak with complete honesty . We viewed on line hotels in Weston super mare and looked at the reviews before booking . to be fair we were nearly put off but after booking and arriving we could not believe we were in the same place the outside looks a bit tired but given its over 100 years old and open to all the elements by the sea i would expect that . The hotel inside was really clean and our room no 419 was perfect obviously i can not comment on every room but everyone we spoke to said the same 1 lift is the old style but still works and the other lift has been replaced both worked on our visit .the staff could not do enough to help you very welcoming and polite. hotel to be honest the only thing i would say is it can be disabled unfriendly due the the amount of stairs and different levels .we being disabled managed ok some may not . the food was amazing very good value for money main lunch and breakfast. the rooms can be very hot at times i do like a cool room so i took a fan but others may prefer a warm room . would always go there again and book same room . Parking can be in issue as in a few places in weston the hotel does not have its own parking but there is a multi storey car park next door .if you are lucky there are a few 2 hr only bays outside the hotel my advise to anyone is do not be put off sometimes by reviews as some may have been genuine issues at the time things do go wrong occasionally. while we stayed 13/14/15/16 October we really enjoyed ourselves and could not find fault Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so welcoming and relaxing Kind regards Mr A .
