   Our recent house purchase was made far more stressful than it needed to be because the vendor was using Howells Solicitors (Bridgend). Howells confirmed exchange for the 28th October and provided bank details for the transfer, so everything should have been straightforward. Instead, when completion day arrived, they went completely silent. My solicitor first contacted them at 6:30am and spent the entire day chasing for updates, with next to no response. By late afternoon, we were still waiting for the keys with no explanation. At 4:45pm, the estate agent finally managed to reach the vendor directly — only to be told that Howells had informed her everything was ready to go. Clearly, that wasn’t the case. Their lack of communication and professionalism caused unnecessary stress and delay on what should have been an exciting day. I would strongly advise anyone considering Howells Solicitors to look elsewhere — their service was unacceptable.

   Rubbish! I wanted to do a will, got transferred 5 times, eventually spoke to someone who was very nervous and sounded like he was in the basement. I live in Bridgend, but he wanted me to go to Cardiff to do the will. They really were not interested poor service. Plenty of other solicitors

   We've sold and purchased/attempted to purchase 5 properties over the last 18 months with different conveyancers each time. All we can say is that Natalie Raker from the firm was a pleasure to deal with. Regular, quick, simple communication. Questions and queries answered when necessary, no quibbles or nonsense, just courtesy. Wish we had found Howells sooner to be honest. They set the bar far, far higher than the other firms we were unfortunately recommended.

   Shockingly slow. Just to clarify I am the purchaser and the vendor is using Howells. Early August 2024 the purchase offer was accepted and solicitor's were instructed, we are 7 months in now with only around half of the initial queries being answered. Communication from Howells has been shocking, with emails from myself, my solicitor and the selling agent going unanswered. A complaint regarding the lack of communication and slow progress and has been sent to the director of Howells but this too has been ignored. Months ago I made it clear that my mortgage offer would expire in late Feb 2025 which looks set to expire and the sale is likely to fall through.

   I used Leah Moore's team for conveyancing as a first time buyer and I have to say, everyone I dealt with was fantastic. They were efficient and chased my lenders for me when needed. They also processed completion early on the day in question, so I was able to collect my keys as early as 10:30. After hearing horror stories from friends going through the same process, I was relieved I chose Leah and her team.
