I had high expectations for this restaurant at first, but after I went in, the staff seated me right by the door. We asked to be moved further inside because it was very cold today and sitting near the entrance felt freezing. After moving to a table inside, the atmosphere was quite noisy. I originally thought this place would have a more elegant vibe for a relaxed chat, but in the end, we had to speak loudly just to hear each other. As for the food quality, it was average — acceptable, but nothing special.

The service was lovely and we got our food really quickly! portions were also quite big and the drinks were nice too. Let down on the food - ordered chocolate and strawberry pancakes and eggs Benedict. The toast was too tough to cut through properly and it ended up being hard to eat. The pancakes also weren’t great left feeling a little disappointed. Would go again just for drinks.

We ordered a royale from the main menu and a courgette, egg, potato, and pesto dish from the weekly specials— both dishes were delicious, with good portions and reasonable prices. The only downsides were that the cappuccino and hot chocolate weren’t served hot enough, and if you’re a table of two, they insist you sit at a two-seater table rather than a booth, which is understandable but still disappointing (during lunch hours). The tables for two are also placed very close together, so it feels like you’re almost in conversation with the people next to you, as you can hear everything. Overall I would recommend.

Disappointed Visit to Kai Went to Kai today with the family, looking forward to some delicious pancakes and French toast — unfortunately, we left feeling quite let down. Both the pancakes and French toast were dry and bland, definitely below average and not what we were expecting. The service didn’t help either; the staff seemed uninterested and low on energy, as if they were just waiting for the shift to end. On a positive note, the atmosphere was pleasant and the place itself had a nice vibe, but sadly the food and service just didn’t match up.

We had a great brunch - avocado toast, with poached eggs with an extra of crispy bacon, the special of pavlova pancakes and for drinks we had bloody Mary’s & juice. The food all tasted brilliant and was presented really well. The bloody Mary’s were excellent with a really punchy spice level that I loved. The atmosphere was very laid back, which was great for brunch. The only slight downside was having to ask for a bottle of water 3 times, but a small thing for an overall great brunch.

Delicious food with attractive plate styling, all at reasonable prices. Nice and welcoming staff. It has no doubt one of the top eating places in Leicester.

KAI does brunch, and it does it well. It's not a large place and it can be busy, but the friendly staff will try their best to find room. And it's worth waiting for - cute decor and chilled atmosphere (lofi included!) makes it a great place for a low-key brunch. And the food is amazing. Maybe the best pancakes I've ever had. And the french toast was delicious too! Wouldn't hesistate to come back, and the prices while not cheap feel reasonable given the quality of the food you receive. If I had to find something to criticise it would be the bathrooms - two simple rooms that are identical in function, so why gender them? Just put "toilet" on both, and it'd make it simpler for everyone.

I discovered this all day breakfast spot after conducting a Google search for brunch. We got the florentine and Benedict eggs, but substituted the sourdough toast for pancakes. I wish the server had informed us that the pancakes she would be serving were sweet rather than savoury, as we had believed. The poached eggs were a little overcooked, I believe I will inform them if I return. The turmeric tea was delicious, and the overall food quality was acceptable.
