Interesting small park with sham castle, could be great with a bit of money spent on it. Hard to rate this, its a bit run down but I still found it interesting to wander around looking at the follies in this park which was the former gardens of local mill owner's house. The sham castle at the top of the hill looks great but is hard to see hiding at the top of a rockery behind trees and vegetation which could do with cutting back and a rather unsympathetic modern fence to keep you away. You can walk through stone arches (apparently all that remains of a grotto) to reach an old wishing well fed by an cast iron pipe that disappears mysteriously into a dark tunnel in the hillside which appears to have been restored a few years ago. An old mill pond is now a wetland area with wooden walkway sadly now blocked off. There is also an ornamental pond to sit by and feed the ducks or fend of the Canada geese... There are also plenty of grassy areas, a small football pitch and kids play area.

1st time visiting! Really nice small area if you fancy a quick walk with your dog (if you have one that is). Kids park is clean and tidy. Defiantly would come back here again and I think my dog had a good time rolling around on the grass, so I think he approves lol. I've applied some drone shots of the surrounding area.

Lovely park. Had a great walk with the dogs. Walked along the footpath through the woods up into Stainland. Then back down through Stainland park and the rocks.
