From what I've just read about this vet I would think twice about registering with them they don't seem to care very much... Here is a copy of what iv just read.... I wanted to share an experience I had today with Animates vets in Thurlby. I was on a walk in the local area from Bourne, and my dog injured her foot quite badly — it was bleeding heavily — so I took her straight to Animates for help. Unfortunately, they refused to see her because I wasn’t registered with their practice. I completely understand that practices have policies, but this was an urgent situation and my dog was in visible distress, to which the receptionist also agreed. I asked at the very least if I could have a bandage to stop the bleeding myself and to reduce the risk of infection having to walk back from Thurlby to Bourne. I would have of course paid for my dog to be seen and to purchase a bandage, however was flat out refused for anything. I was asked what vets I was registered with, which is the priory in Bourne, and they even acknowledged that they weren’t open, and were still happy to turn my injured dog away, knowing I didn’t have another option of care for her. I’m sharing this because I believe no animal in distress should be turned away when they urgently need care, regardless of registration status. I hope Animates rethink their policies so that no one else has to experience this in a moment of panic and fear for their pet. Also, a reminder of how important it is for veterinary practices to have some flexibility when an animal needs immediate care. I wanted to give a huge shout out of appreciation & thanks to Daisie & Scarlett at Petorama Petshop Bourne. I took Indie in asking for help to stop the bleeding, and without hesitation they stepped in, gently cleaned her foot, bandaged it, and made sure she was as comfortable as possible. Their compassion and willingness to help made such a difference in a really stressful moment. It’s reassuring to know there are still local businesses who genuinely care about animals welfare.

The people working today (08/11/2025) your lack of empathy towards a dog in pain and an owner in distress who came to you as a last resort is deeply concerning. The poor dog was bleeding and you were the only vets they were near. There are policies and then there are basic human kindness and understanding. Would you not agree that an animal’s welfare is the priority in an emergency even if they aren’t registered with your practise? Was it really worth it with the impression you’ve given to every pet owner in this area now? If you’re reading this then choose wisely which vet practises you give your money to, they might not have animals best interests at the forefront of their values

A horrible experience when I had my cat euthanised at Animates recently. I was shown into a consulting room that had large windows straight out onto the drive, no blinds or privacy. There were 3 workmen stood directly outside with a petrol hedge trimmer. The noise was awful. After saying to the vet twice about the noise she did go and ask them to stop. However, I still had an audience of the 3 of them all through the consultation and euthanasia. The whole consultation and procedure took nearly 50 mins and I had to stand throughout the whole thing. I would have expected to have been offered somewhere more suitable, at least for the part when I was waiting for my pet to be sedated and for holding her during the euthanasia. I left the vets feeling distraught about losing my pet but the whole experience felt even more horrible by the public nature of the room I was in, the lack of even a chair and the noise. I've now had a bill for £304! I will never return or recommend.

Have abandoned this clinic. The corporate greed has become excessive - charging over £100 for antibiotics costing a few pounds is pure greed . As is charging out a 10 minute health check with a veterinary nurse (£85) only to then be told that the vet needs to do the same health check again 2 days later and at further cost before they will dispense repeat medications. Definitely profit before animal welfare in my opinion - and there are better places to go.

Absolutely fabulous vets. Every single member of staff we have dealt with has been friendly, welcoming and helpful in person and over the phone. They are all informative and do what is best for your pets. Can’t fault them and I wouldn’t take my dog or cats anywhere else.

We are overjoyed with all the staff, so friendly and helpful, nothing is any trouble. Your family pet is of the upmost importance and everything is explained in detail during consultation. We are extremely happy and would highly recommend Animates.

Although they advertise as Cat friendly and intended to have a cat only surgery this hasn't happened. However our cat is very difficult with strangers especially Vets but they cope with her well. She has had one of 2 ops on her teeth and they couldn't have been more helpful and caring. Thank you.
