Housing economic migrants at the taxpayers expense and cancelling bookings in order to do it. Thankfully found another place but still disgusting.

I mean I think purely because of how harshly the owner likes to rate other peoples places… I think he just needed a taste of his own medicine… don’t care how good the place is.. if a place is run by a petty Narcissist I can’t imagine enjoying even being served food by them…

We arrived for a special meal after traveling from Leicester with 6 other members of our family to celebrate our wedding anniversary, as we had our wedding reception at Scalford Hall 15 years ago. Upon arrival, there was no one to be found apart from some maintenance staff. They informed us that there was no water so they were closed. There was no communication to inform us of this, and we emailed them multiple times after this to find out what went on, with no response whatsoever. What a horrendous way to treat your customers. Extremely disappointed.

Not really a review in that we were booked in early October to attend a relatives wedding. Was really looking forward to our stay, smart hotel! This week we get a call to tell me our booking has been cancelled. When I ask why, I’m told the hotel is closed for the rest of the year as it has been contracted to the Home Office. When I queried this, the inference was that it may be used to accommodate migrants. Never going to consider booking this hotel again. I appreciate in these times the hotel probably needs the revenue, but I think customer service sucks as no alternatives were even suggested.

Very friendly staff. Lovely country house which was ideal for our purposes. Dog friendly room on ground floor with quick access to the garden. Wet room type bathroom very useful for muddy paws. The person in the room next to us was noisy the night before and kept us awake coughing and snoring. The staff kindly changed our room for the second night and it was lovely and quiet. It is a lovely quiet place think we just were unlucky the first night.

Having stayed in similar places I wasn't sure what to expect, especially for the very reasonable price I paid, but I was not disappointed at all. The front of house welcome was both warm and very safety focused, the staff were all amazing, special mention to Mick the night manager who went out of his way to buy Melton Mowbray Pork pies for me when I mentioned that I wanted to take some back for the kids but wouldn't have time, absolutely above and beyond the call of duty. I was upgraded to the bridal suite which was nothing short of amazing, the refurbishment in all areas was well designed and never lost that feeling of being in a grand stately home. The bathroom and bath were huge and even had it's own TV. The breakfast was superb, locally sourced sausages and bacon to die for. All in all I could not recommend it highly enough, it's outstanding in every way and I cannot wait to return, thanks Amanda and team.

3.08.19 Spent £100 on a double room . Overall feel of hotel - tired warn..unfinished ...hallways needs a hoover ..unusual smell in the corridors. Room - less desirable than a travel lodge , room dull and uninspired. Old mismatched furniture. Room not cleaned properly. Hair on bathroom floor. Shower mat old and tired . We did not feel comfortable having a shower....so we didn't shower the morning we left. Breakfast ....mushrooms rubbery ..sausages looked undercooked . 5 out of 10. Staff -very friendly. Would not recommend..well maybe at 35 pp night this place would be completely acceptable. Edit.21.08.19 In response to your reply Amanda ...we were in room 212 ...27th of July.

A good 3* in that it's not bad in any way, but equally doesn't stand out either. Food was very tasty in the restaurant. Rooms definitely in need of refreshing as some look quite old and a little delapidated. Also very hot and seemed quite a challenge to find us a desk fan. Building and grounds have natural countryside charm, but again not fabulously well maintained. Staffing must depend on what day it is. Sat and Sun they were really struggling. Understaffed with too many trainees but did best to be polite and helpful despite this. Monday seemed much better. Overall nothing to raise serious complaint about but equally wouldn't rush back.

I was brought here by my partner for a quick getaway. The room was clean even though it was dated. The beds are large, firm and comfortable. The staff were brilliant, helpful and friendly. The food was out of this world. I proud of myself being a big eater but after just having the starter and main I couldn't go on any further as the meals were of a generous portion. Would I come back here. Yes I would and I will more than likely be back soon.
