   I ordered a standard wedding band for £395 here and I initially found Bernard personable and helpful. When the ring arrived, it was much thinner than I expected. It felt like tin and was the wrong size. As this is an important piece of jewellery for me, I was very disappointed with it (and the advice they gave me about it in advance). I decided to buy a ring from another local jeweller instead. I know Angela Rose don't offer refunds but I asked what options there were in this situation and whether we could come to some kind of agreement. Jo seemed to take the fact that I had shopped elsewhere very personally. The ring which she had just sold she now referred to as "worthless" and "scrap". She angrily said "if you want a refund, I'll give you a refund". When I accepted this, she then denied having said it and argued that I had misunderstood. She then said I could have store credit. When I accepted this, Bernard refused to honour this and accused me of "trying to take advantage of a small business". They then said I could have a 50% refund. I understand that they don't have to offer any refund and I repeatedly said I didn't want them to be out of pocket. However, accusing me like that was unfair, totally unprofessional and fundamentally untrue. I saw another side to them as they became personally insulting and repeatedly made jibes about how I had "spent a lot more money on a much more expensive ring elsewhere". Jo angrily asked "how do you think it makes me feel that you have shopped elsewhere?" It seemed that my decision to shop elsewhere had, in her mind, justified her extremely aggressive response. I felt like the situation could have been resolved amicably but instead Jo and Bernard's handling of it ended up being perhaps the nastiest retail experience I've ever had. On sharing my experience with friends and family in Muswell Hill, I've heard that many others have had similar experiences. On reading the reviews below it is clear that this way of behaving is not uncommon for them. Again, I understand that they don't give refunds and they did offer me a 50% refund. However, the way they spoke to me is no way to speak to a customer - or anyone for that matter.

   Incredible jewellers. For any reviews saying the people there are rude, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Everyone in the shop is so lovely and friendly. I brought a ring in to get re sized and they took so much time and care to make sure it was right. The service and turnaround time was so quick and inexpensive. My ring also got polished up and looks brand new again. This is such a wonderful business and I couldn’t recommend them more

   I walked in with a watch that needed the bracelet adjusting. They were so helpful and patient. It could have just been a quick link removal but they took time to get it right and for me to be happy with the fit. Got the impression they really cared, which was nice seeing as I hadn’t bought the watch from them. So five stars, highly recommended.

   I have had an opal got somewhere else set in silver as a pendant, the owners were nice to me, listened to my ideas and got it done quickly. The pendant itself is lovely and looks solid. Communication was always very quick and helpful.
